Yea its overheating, that happened with a dell that i had. Open the case and clean it out. Maybe re-apply some artic silver on the CPU. I did that with the dell and it stopped freezing AND ran 10 degrees cooler than before.

Popping open your laptop and fucking with the CPU heatsink isn't /always/ the easiest of jobs.

However, if you want to actually go the whole 9, look up a few sites like tigerdirect.ca newegg.com frozencpu.com and see what sort've aftermarket CPU fans and heatsinks you can get for your model of laptop. Laptop's aren't the easiest thing to get parts for, but you get lucky sometimes.

And yes, it sounds as if your computer is overheating. If you don't want to go aftermarket, take your heatsink off and perhaps lap it (sand it with multiple grades of sandpaper till it's mirror finish smooth) and THEN put arctic silver on it..

Also clean the fan.
