$55K + Freight + PDI + Taxes?

That is pretty expensive either way......

anything over 35-40K is a ripoff for this car.
I mean, even with all the cool stuff on it, with the trim it has (which is suitable for this car and preffered in most cases) it is way overpriced.

... isn't the normal wrx $35k plus tax already?... i don't think the price is too bad considering what you get..

Not wanting to burst your bubble, but a regular WRX is $35k. My personal feeling is that the car is not overpriced, if you are more interested in performance than you are in status. North America is the only place that gets a 2.5L turbo motor, we're the only place that gets the Drive Controllable Center Diff standard (try finding one for less than $10k out of a wrecked Spec C). Just those features alone are worth the extra $11k over a WRX, plus there is way more to the car than that. If paying $47k for a subaru bothers you so much go buy a mercedes or an audi. I'll be perfectly happy in my STi.

Uhh no we're not.

Japan has had them since V3.

You can buy complete DCCD 6speed trannies from wrecks for like $1900 there, not $10,000. Im pretty sure even a BRAND NEW one from the dealer wouldn't be $10,000. Technically the DCCD isn't anything special (As far as parts needed to make it work). Spec-C's are the cheapest "STIs" available.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding was the DCCDs only came on the competition models (Spec C, Type RA etc) or limited run vehicles like the 22B-STi. Because the australian and british models of the STi DO NOT have the DCCD offered, even as an option nor as far as I know does a regular japanese STi.

SPD Tuning, and most other places I have seen quote the cost of putting a 6 speed with a 50/50 fixed torque split into a standard WRX at well over $5k USD, with a DCCD model running significantly higher than that. Thats not to say that there aren't places that can do it cheaper, but I haven't seen anyone in north america that can even get one for $1900, never mind put it in for close to that price.

tulit is talking prices in japan i beleive... which i don't think is applicable here.... but DCCD are only available on the special models... i think the normal STi didn't have them, even the WRX RA's don't have them...

Yeah thats the thing, prices are greatly marked up here. Once the STI is available, those guys wont be able to sell them for those prices anymore. It doesn't mean because someone is charging it, that the part is worth $10k. Like I said, a brand new tranny/dccd will probably be less that 10k from the dealer when they come. Used ones aren't worth anything close to that.

And yes there has been many imprezas (available only on sti's , not normal wrx) with DCCD. These are the first years too for europe to be getting a STI. Everything they had before was always grey market.

The V7 (JDM) does have DCCD. I sat it in. I drove it... I pressume V8 does as well.... Not sure on specifics of which models got and which models didnt before V7. I was under the impression RA Limiteds were the only ones.

I know. I never said they did.

Partially my bad, I wasn't aware that the regular japanese STi's had the DCCD standard. The information I had said they were only available in the Spec C, and I haven't seen anything that contradicts that. Prior to the GDA chassis STi's, ONLY the competition models or limited runs had the DCCD.

I think its a great car, but i just think its overpriced. Its still an impreza, just one with alot more features and performance from the factory.
I'd say the same thing if honda released some comparable civic for 40K.
Then again, maybe im just old school and arent aware of how much cars are going up in price.
