Question: Is it possible to hook up a DVD player via a HDMI cable (video) to a TV and a digital coax or optical (audio) to a receiver? I heard that there are some DVD players out there that allows a separate video/audio signal going out even if the HDMI is used. Do you guys have any experience with any of these players? On the same note, any up-convert DVD player you would recommend? Thanks!

I'm pretty sure every upconverting dvd player will allow you to use the audio from a digital coax or a fiber optic, while using a hdmi. Just because alot of older televisions which are High Definitoin dont have the HDMI connection but do have DVI, can still get the upgraded resolution.

Any upconverting DVD player will give you pretty much the same quality, but i would stay away from companies like "prima" or even "toshiba" .. they make great laptops, and flat panel lcd's, but i wouldn't buy a dvd player from them.

You can get a good sony, or even a pioneer upconverting dvd player for about 149ish.
