DAMN!!!! Never seen one in real life before, it was pretty impressive, didn't expect to see one in Calgary. It was a a pretty nice color, not a normal silver, had a kinda champagne tint to it, beautiful car.

Ohh, it was at the Tim Hortons (sp?? wtf) in McKenzie.

Anyone have any idea how much it's worth?

last i checked (5 yrs ago) there were only 12 left in the world that are all original...that being said, if this one IS real...it is worth 700-1.2 mil USD....making the likelyhood of a Calgarian owning one, quite slim. Beautiful car, props if it is real :)

I think that particular one was estimated at 400 000 canadian a few years back.

yeah, looks pretty original, if it was a kit it would be VERY well made, seeing it in person you can tell it's something special. Most kits you can tell somethings off.

It would not be a kit, just another older benz, less valuable with similar chassis to modify..all custom not like those shitty cheesy ferrari on fiero kits we see, usually its actual MB parts...

As for the price, that 400 CDN is WAY too low if it is an original....has to be higher, or else the appraiser doesn't know shit....

Ben, how do you know its real?

Great car regardless....there are lots of nice Cobra 427 replicas and I respect them too..even if this one's not original, still beautiful and still a Benzo!

Spoke to the owner for over an hour at that car show, he bought it at auction from a show in the states, wouldn't say what he paid for it but there was a guy there making sure no one would touch it. After all the talking I finally convinced him to let me take some pics.

Don't think so, just searched on the net, found a 56 with 50 000miles going for 250 000 USD.

I did an inspection on one after it was legalized for North America. It belonged to a retired farmer who obvioulsy made some impressive bank after selling his operation. It was an interesting test drive, definately a highlight of my career.

There are two original gullwings in Calgary, One is the US one the other was owned for many years by Heinz ** he sold it when he got sick to *** for a price in the low 200's, the car has always been a Calgary car and gets driven pretty regularly.
Cheers

Apparently the 1954 is the most rare (first produced) and that's probably why it is so expensive...there must be more of the 56's....not to dicount them at all, still fantastic cars, i guess just not as rare from a collector standpoint....interesting that there are 2 gullwings in Calgary....must be nice :)
