I've been having some problems with my blower. Most of the time it works fine. Sometimes though it won't blow at full strength, max will be around 2/3 full power. Sometimes it fixes itself after I frive for a bit, it will suddenly kick in full. Tonight it actually started blowing hard, then suddenly slowed down. No change to heater/blower settings. Anyone else experienced anything like this before?

It's a 99 328is with auto climate control

The reason why it started blowing hard, then suddenly slowed down is because that's the point of auto climate control. When it reaches the temperature you want, it slows down the heat or cold that's blowing out and tries to maintain the temperature.

I'm not referring to when the auto is on. And auto will slow down gradually, not suddenly since temperature doesn't just go from 10 degrees suddenly to 20 degrees.

I'm talking about when it's not set at auto, and the fan changes speed but the settings haven't changed. I searched on bimmerforums and it looks like it could be a problem with the final stage unit.

i had the same problem on my prev e46.. when i researched it on e46fanatics.. i found out it could be the final resistor.

Most of the people who replaced the final resistor fixed the problem.
