Normally I don't condone street racing but on my way home tonight I saw this Civic Hatch with a Spoon sticker on the door.

We were just driving normally when we got a very open stretch of road. I was cruising in 4th gear (around 4500 rpm) when I noticed him coming up quick. I waited till he was fairly close and just floored it. I pretty much knew he would pass and I wouldn't catch him as the 1.8T runs out of breath pretty quick at the top end. Well he ended up passing and kept about a car to a car and a half (could be more...could be less...I'm terrible at judging distance) and we stayed like that for most of the race.

At the lights I talked with the guy briefly. I asked him what he had...he told me it was a Type-R swap and that he surprises a lot of people. I wasn't that surprised as I was expecting something other than a stock civic. Anyway, he seemed like a nice guy. Anyone now who this is or if he is on the board? I would like to run him again at Race City from a stop. This would make it a lot fairer for me. I would even do a 2nd or 3rd gear roll. I think being in 4th for me was a disadvantage but whatever....it was fun!!

Cool. It's a nice car. Is that your car in the sig? I've seen that car around. Do you know what hp that Civic is? Does he go to the Secret Streets?

I'd like to hear his version of this race. I have really never raced all that much before so I could be way off with how close/far I was. To me that is what it looked like.

Doubt you have seen the car in my sig, unless of course you cruise around in Hawaii....

Must be a car that is similar. It was a Red honda with the black carbon fibre hood. Of course that means nothing. That could be ANY car.

According to carpoint, the hatches are more than 350lbs less then an ITR. But who knows what a B18C5 weighs...

i've deen bobby's car, and it's sweet. i don't think it's meant to be a drag car though, so even if the the 1.8T beat it, it's really not that big of a deal. from what i can tell it should be a killer in the turns though. The stopping power, spoon calipers, and massive rotors, as well as a full ITR 5 lug conversion, i assume he's also got a pretty mean suspension setup to goalong with this stuff...

A light civic hatch with a crazy ass B18C5 swap is NOT used as a drag car??? So, I guess it's all show and no go then?

they should be very fair...

they have roughly the same amount of horsepower.... although the chip and tourque of a 1.8T "might" and i stress might give the GTi the upper hand...

take it to the track... thats the only why to prove anything

how much does the "chip" add? Cause my crx with b16a was pretty much dead even with a 2002 1.8t golf.

I beat him off the line but he just stay at my rear. I would think a b18c5 civic would be faster than my b16a crx was......

That's what mine is. A 2002 GTI 1.8T. Stock the hp is 180 with around 173 ft/lbs for torque. With the chip the hp is 212 and the torque is 221 ft/lbs. I think off the line, I could take the Civic due to the torque. However, the 1.8T engine runs out of breath at the top end. Like someone said, we can talk all we want, I would love to try it at the track. I know it would kill me in a road race, auto-x but in the 1/4 I think I might come out on top.

that's quite a boost with a chip..... damn turbo vw's!!!

that makes sense. Caus eI was side by side with a stock 1.8t.

Oh well... my honda will last me longer!!! :) just jokes.
