SCC Edmonton Cancelled
Sept 16, 2006

We're sorry to report that SCC is officially cancelled at the recommendation of Castrol Raceway. There are large collections of water at the track that cannot be removed before our event date. Stay tuned as we work to secure a replacement date in October.

SCC Calgary - Oct 7 - we hope to see you there.

Hence why you don't schedule events in Alberta for anything after Sept. 1st.. Hopefully Oct 7th in Calgary will be a go.

The "cancel" updates were posted about 5-10 minutes after I left for Edmonton.

I found out about 20 minutes before I got there. (Phone call)

BUT, kept going because I had a part to pick up for someone else. Oh well.

Ron, 900km, yeah, well, you win!

Oh wait, I know someone who drove from Saskatchewan! Guess he wins! LOL!

The EDM SCC was moved to Sunday before it was cancelled. It was a two-step process. Markis officially rescheduled for the sunday and announced that first rescheduling on Sept. 14th (Thursday). Then on saturday the 16th the announcement went out that sunday was cancelled.

Your post above with your pics was dated Sept 16th. That implies that you went up saturday morning instead of sunday morning. Does that mean you completely missed that it was moved to the 17th (before it was cancelled)?

No. You mis-understand.

Just like my post says - I left a few minutes before the SCC was cancelled. The pictures you see there were taken on Saturday, at about 6:00PM, when I went to the track just for giggles. My camera time is 1 hour off, I guess I should set it.

I knew Saturday was cancelled. And I knew it was moved to Sunday. What happened was SUNDAY was cancelled too late on Saturday for many who were planning to go, and had already left...[those planning to stay the night Saturday and race Sunday]

I left on Saturday because I was going to stay the night in Edmonton, so I didn' t have 300km to go and still manage to get there at 9:00AM on Sunday morning. I didn't want to wait in a 100 car line-up like past SCC's, and I didn't want to get up at 5:00AM and drive either. Thus, I went up Saturday evening.

Ah... gotcha. I missed that part. Makes sense now.

Why would they have it so late in the season? Need to have it in july or augest when the weather is more dependable.
