First off: You cant import any car from Japan unless its 15 years old end of story.

Here's a bunch of threads I found in a quick search. Might answer any future questions you might have.

Wow, why did I NOT think of that! They would be cheap! There will be a small permium for the vehicle as it will be in demand (like the skylines), but I couldn't imagine the cars being any more then 15k.

So in 2 years, I sell my 91TT for a 93TT :)

hmmm, Can anyone give me a rough estimate on how much it would cost to let a mechanic do an engine swap?

There is truth in that, but you have to have a good exporter that won't rip you off. Generally the cars sell for much less here in Japan than in Canada. That's why guys are buying them and shipping them over to Canada.

Let me know if I can help you.

What are you trying to swap into what?

A 5speed NA Supra (2JZ-GE) to a 6speed TT (2jZ-GTE)

^^I think you mean a 6spd gte into an na.
Short answer, WAYYYYYY too much, as in 12-15k+ for decent used parts.
Ive added it up and you're better off just buying a usdm tt 6spd from the beginning

decent mileage MK4s are in the 30ks. I think you can get a Non turbo 5peed supra for about 15-16k... Engine for about 5.5-6k. so far thats 22k + the price of the swap.

You have to remember there is allot more to the TT supra then just the engine,

Rotors brakes, cooling system, 6speed instead of 5speed Getrag Tranny, rear bearings, ecu. feul management system and components....etc.

Making a TT supra is like converting a WRX to an STI.

You might as well buy the twin from the beginning. As for the Tranny Swap, i did mine. It was originally an auto which was awesome for drag but when i got my hp numbers higher then 500 i had to rebuild the tranny (Boost Logic) i did the swap instead the 6speed getrag is awesome with a used tranny it was approx $8.000.

If you Plan to import do it fast, from what allot of people are telling is that the supra's in Japan are being taken apart for engines, tranny's and other parts and being imported. Also every one is waiting to import these cars the demand is going to be hi they will be like the NSX's.
