This is a longshot, but here goes,

I've got a compaq presario 2100 that i've had for 2 years. The problem is, sometimes it won't boot up. Sometimes it will work, but most of the time, it freezes at the compaq logo screen. I'm not sure what's wrong with it, but if anyone out there is computer savvy maybe they can buy it and fix it. I'm not sure how much I can get for it, so make me an offer.

EDIT: the computer STILL turns on. I took it into memory express, and they said that it looks like it might be a motherboard problem, and I should take it in to a Compaq authorized dealer, but I didn't want to bother. The screen, Hard drive, RAM, optical drive still all works. I'm pretty convinced it is a motherboard problem, but like I said, it still sometimes works. If you're interested, we can meet up and I'll show you what's wrong with it.

Here are the specs:

AMD Athlon 2800+
512mb Ram
40gb HDD
built in wireless
cdrw
14" screen (not widescreen)

PM me for more details if you're interested.
$250obo!

So many of you have been asking about a price, so hopefully this will help. I've done some searches on ebay for a rough guideline for the price of the working parts:

40gb hard drive - $50

512mb RAM - $50

display - $200

amd athlon xp-m 2800+ - $100

Case, keyboard, touchpad, battery - $100

so that's roughly $500 worth of parts. Now I know I won't be getting $500 for a broken laptop, since you could probably find a working laptop for that price, so I'm looking to get about $250obo for it. Of course this price is very flexible, so make me an offer and we'll work out a price.

Thanks again

update

so i tried turning my laptop on again, and surprise surprise it works! I have no idea what is wrong with it, and it's not the first time it's worked after I thought it was gone.

What I usually do to get it to work, is when I turn it on, the compaq logo shows, and it says "press esc to enter boot menu, etc" so I push esc.
Now this is when it goes crazy...
SOMETIMES the boot menu will pop up, and so I push enter, and the computer proceeds to windows.

BUT, most of the time the computer just freezes at the compaq logo screen.

The guys at memory express thought it was a motherboard problem, but since it seems to work sometimes, I kinda doubt it's a motherboard problem.

But anyways, here is a screenshot taken from my laptop, and also a picture of the actual laptop WORKING

could be the BIOS or the memory mess up but I will take that risk and give you 150 bucks for it...:)
