What does one look for regarding house insurance?

I have my auto insurance with Monnex and may combine both auto and home with them.

we have all our insurance through Monnex. House + vehicle = 5% discount. Never had a problem with them, never filed a claim either though.

I'm with Monnex (Home + Auto).

Fairly reasonable prices, plus I like their million dollar coverage. Your house itself is covered, up to $1,000,000 to accomendate changes in the market, without altering your policy.

I've yet to make a claim, and I hope I never have to.

I work as a part-time insurance broker and the best company for home insurance is Peace Hills Insurance. They automatically give you $2,000.000 personal liability coverage, automatic sewer back-up coverage and much more..possibly the best policy you can buy for your money. They also have the lowest premiums that i've seen.

As for Home+Auto Discount, pretty much every company gives that. Most at 10%.

I've got a quote from Monnex and they're $200 more than the next competitor. Sure, I get to save 5% from Auto but it isn't $200 worth of savings! Tried to bargain to bring it down at least match the price and policy, but that's as low as they'll go.

Going to have to go elsewhere.

Wonder for those who have Monnex for home insurance aren't getting milked over..

I have car insurance with Monnex, but when I got a quote for my condo it was almost $200 more as well. I called PC Insurance and the price I got is $140/year  so I signed up with them. Might change my car insurance too once I settle into the new place.

1M coverage
$45,000 for contents

I'll update when I get the paperwork.

hmmm, now I need to check our house insurance. We're in the $40/month range, but that also includes coverage for my wife's engagement ring <grumble>
