I am looking at purchasing an integra from Calgary, I got the vin from the owner and called Silverhill Acura today to see if they can give me any service info on the car, specifically if the timing belt has been changed. They said they are not allowed to release service information unless they know i have permission from the owner. Now i understand that they cannot give me the owner's name, address, phone number and what not, but i didn't think service info was included with that as well. I have made the same request before from both Regina Acura and other Acura dealers in Winnipeg and Vancouver, and they had no problem informing me whether a particular vehicle has been serviced there or not, and if it has, what work was done. I asked Regina Acura if it was Acura policy to not give out serivce info, and he said as far as he knew, as long as i know the vin they can tell me basic service info. Any help is greatly appreciated.
