It's virtually impossible for anyone to give you an accurate number. Way too many variables. But face it, you're 20 yrs old and I don't know your driving record, but even a spotless one will net you a pretty big annual payout on an SRT-4. So try not to choke too hard when they give you a number over the phone. Get the phonebook out and shop around, A LOT.

YA, its gonna be pretty high. Insurance companies know how MOST 20 year old's will drive a turbo neon with 235whp, cause i'm 21 and I know how I would be driving one. haha

yeah exactly. :) If I had one when I was 20, I'd probably be dead by now. Thankfully I inherited the family car. An 81 pontiac. ;) Insurance/year was still $1200 and that was just for liability.

:werd: Call around to LOT's of places. I shopped around a while back and got a few high quotes then one out of the blue that was wayyyyy cheaper then the others and I questioned it a few times thinking they got something wrong, then went there immediately to sign up.

What's cheap for one person may not be the same for another person so you can't really just take someone's word for it, shop around.

They only advertise like 230HP, how does it have 235 at the wheels? Is it like the mustang cobra and other cars where they understate it alot?

Yeah lots of manufacturers do this. The cobalt SS/SC is the same deal, about 200-210whp, rated at 205 crank. Its been speculated that this is to keep people from getting hammered on insurance.

Thats pretty cool, I like that.

What I'm still wondering though is that this is pretty readily available information, you would think the insurance companies know this, wouldn't you? Or perhaps they are only allowed to charge you based on the manufactuer's claims instead of the actual numbers.

call around, www.kanetix.com used to be a place to get quotes..

Mine was not too bad, but I was 30 when I had it, with a couple tickets, no accidents and it was about 1400 a year. Comared to my 2000 mustang GT which was 2 grand a year.

Mine was insured I think the same as a sx2.0 (I gave them my VIN and all)...

Make some calls.

they will charge you based on their schedules, not what the car will dyno at..

Mine was 234/260 to the wheels in stock form when I had it..

i'm kinda glad they didn't have the srt4 when i was younger or i would have definetly bought it and been the ricest skittle driver around! i tottally would have ended up doing 60 km/hr on the exit of deerfoot onto glenmore something would have broken in my steering and i would have ended up balanced on a guard rail .

If you're lucky, your front end will be OK and you'll be able to drive home.

Because as we all know, that's what happens when you don't drive fast.

im 19 years old, clean driving record and i just got my 2002 wrx insured about 2 months ago from Link Insurance, They quoted me at 360$ a month for full coverage, pretty steep but well worth it

360 a month harsh.

I was payinng 2500/year for my 91 shelby daytona, then insurance rates changed everywhere and shot down to 1400/year. now driving a fiero at 1000/year.

Looking to also buy an srt4 in the near future, clean driving record no demerits or anything, with drivers training. I am hoping its not over 2000/year (just liability).

im 19 btw, almost 20.

for my 07 gti i'm at 1700/ year for full coverage.i'm 23 so you can see how fast your premiums go down as you get older and stay clean.

i pay 215/month w/ AMA for liability only, and i have 3 tickets and 1 accident still on the record....

to tell you the truth, EVERYONE and i do mean EVERYONE i've talked to when getting the car loan, the insurance, and hte registration had NO idea what an SRT4 was so they put neon on everything :poosie: i'm not gonna argue, it's a NEON SRT4, why should i pay any premium for that

I'm a bit cheaper than that but it's still pricey compared to other cars I've driven.

It's my only car. It's insured as To/From Work, 5 days a week.

I pay 180/month on basic coverage, plus collision (covers their car and mine)

thats ALSO under my parents name... They wany 6k a year for ANY car under my name, full coverage... insurance is ridiculous... it's so hard to even drive anymore... my insurance payments are more than my car payments

I think if you get JUST LIABILITY, and not collision, shouldnt be any more expensive? Or is it rated as high performance car.... You will probably get collision on a new car like that I am assuming.
