Were looking to add an aux output that would easily interface (plug in) to Escort / Bel Valentine radar detectors that would allow auto muting of your unit in areas of known false alarms, this would pre mute the unit and indicate it was doing this on the navalert ( http://www.navalert.com ) screen.

You would have no radar detector protection while this is happening so it should only be used in areas such as parking lots etc where no radar detection is required, this would eliminate those false alarms from blasting in your ear every time you go buy that know microwave door opener.

What you guys thing? (radar detecto owners reply only please)

Good idea but I thinkt here would be problems.

You would have to limit it to parking lot areas and the liking. For example there is one spot on Crowchild by the U of C, cruising along and BAM there goes radar, I still don't know what its from but there is never any cops there.

One day the cops are going to find that false radar spot, camp out there and catch everyone with radar detectors that don't slow down because they are used tot hat spot. Or in your case, the spot has been muted.

Make any sense?

I honestly dont hear my radar in high-false positive areas. It goes off like crazy downtown and in parking lots, but Im so desensitized to it in those areas that I just tune it out. Sometimes passengers point it out and then I mute it, otherwise i just dont notice.

The same noise in a non-false area will wake me right up though.

Yes thats why you would only use the feature in areas you dont need any radar detection anyhow, when you driving downtown calgary etc, its a good method to mute without turnign the unit off and then forgetting to turn it back on, if your ignoring the radar detector in those areas anyhow it makes no differnce if its muted.

The main idea is to have the unit only alert in non flasing areas, then you know 100% your dealing with a real LEO. Were goingto add the feature since it costs nothing to include it . ; )
