just a quick question, but isnt piston slap a bad thing? is that something that will need to be remachined?

Piston slap is fairly common with Forged internals, but ONLY on cold starts. Once the engine is warm and the piston expands it should quiet down alot. If it slaps when warm its not a terrible thing but will wear faster than usual.
