posted on nasioc, but i though i would share with the beyond crew aswell

Just wanted to share with you guys the remnants of my blown STi clutch

I used to track the car quite frequently last summer, so its not in the best of condition, but i never used to side step the clutch from 6k, it was always 4.5k "soft" launches, I did how ever at more than one occasion lend my car out to who i though to be trust worthy individuals, man was that a mistake

The end result of those people doing hard launches was the clutch springs coming out of their perspective housing, on closer inspection it was the result of a sheared rivet that caused the problems

the disk on the flywheel, still had tons of clutch material left

the pressure plate, despite how it looks in this picture there isn't any hotspost, but there is some scoring from the spring cage when it let go which are the dark spots you see

again the camera has made this look worse than it actually is, along with with a few days outside it's accumulated some rust

and finally

a clear shot of the sprung.... springs lol

let me say changing out the clutch was pretty darn easy, had it not been for me just having a few floor jacks to get the tranny back in, it would have been even easier, but i would never do it again.. lol

I put in a STi lightened fly wheel and also a Spec Stage 2+ clutch disk and pressure plate...

when i took the car for a spin, it felt like i was learning standard all over again, when this clutch engages... It engages HARD!, but i got used to it after about 2 days in the car

haha is the spec stage 2 unsprung or something?

no its sprung, but its almost double the ft/lb rating as the stock Excedy clutch, and the flywheel only being 12 lbs makes for some quick engagement,
