View Full Version : Extremely weird spyware...

Turned on my computer last night and I was greeted by a rather strange desktop. It's obviously spyware because if I click on the "click here" link (refer to pic below) it takes me to:
http://total-pc-protection.com/?aff=242

I'm guessing I need to use their product in order to get my computer back to the way it was before?
Everything works fine, the only thing is I can't change my desktop background. Also there is a pop-up warning on my toolbar every so often which if I click on will bring me to the same site posted above.
I did a scan with Shaw Secure and it couldn't pick anything up so I'm hoping some of you guys could give me a hand.
TIA

BTW I'm using Firefox so the info they claim to know about is incorrect.

I'm not sure about the one in the picture, it changed this morning. The one it was showing me last night was correct though...

I've had this similar problem before. I pretty much had to do a rollback with Window's System Restore. That was the only way I manage to get my desktop back.

Everyone's IP is 127.0.0.1. Even yours!

I guarantee your friend's IP's are 127.0.0.1 too. Try it. Download some hacking software, and run it on the IP 127.0.0.1 and it'll be really funny when you hack your friends computers. Make sure you delete everything.

127.0.0.1 is your local loopback

You got hosed.
Do a Microsoft System Restore.
