so last night, his car got jacked.. CPS found the car in Bonavista(didn't catch thief). Damage is around $1500.

my question is if theres any way he can claim his insurance company??
need your advice guys. thanks

i don't think so. thats what comprehensive insurance is for. tell your buddy to buy more coverage on his car next time if he's worried about theft, etc.

edit: i guess it might just depend on your insurance company somewhat as well...does he have the receipts for proof of purchase?

Nope, you need comprehensive coverage to cover fire, theft and vandalism. Unless the cops find out who stole his vehicle, you're buddy is paying out of his own pockets.

You need comprehensive coverage to cover for theft.

I would ALWAYS recommend people get comprehensive coverage. It's actually a VERY VERY small price compared to the 3rd party portion of your coverage... I think mine works out to something less than $100/year for the comprehensive. It's 3rd party and collision coverage that costs the most.

Live and learn i guess... at least he got the car back.
