Im looking for a car to learn standard on. I dont want to spend a whole lot. So something cheap under $500. Just as long as the car runs good and its a stick shift it'll be fine. A tach on the car would be a very big plus.

If you just want to learn, it might be more cost efficent to rent a car for a day or 2.

For some people it'll take more than two days to learn though.

It's different for everybody though. My friend ruined the crap out of the transmision of a manual car trying to learn to drive it.
But then others might learn it quickly.

AFAIK, im not old enough to just rent a car ( I'm under 18). Nobody I know seems to care if I can drive standard or not, so they won't bother teaching me (oh and some are just scared i'll ruin the clutch). I've asked everyone I know that can drive one. My parents think standards are a waste of money so they won't teach me how to drive one either.

So my only choice is to basically learn on my own.

so you wanna learn just for the heck of it?

You can find a lot of different manual cars for under $500 on buysell.com herehere (http://www.buysell.com/search/resultsVR2.aspx?pshcat=vehicles&vt=15&yrfrom=1970&yrto=1995&mk=&mdl=&qu=&more=500&less=&prox=0&pcode=&rcan=0&srhIssue=)
