thats what i want to know
i just want to see how they re-act the roof scene where tony say "three years and three years and three years, 10 years is approaching"

Heh heh Leo ripped off Tony's facial hair for the role. Heard 'Infernal Affairs' was better but if you're watching 'The Departed' having already seen 'Infernal' then you already know what happens so obviously it's gonna be better the first time around. I think 'The Departed' is still worth a download though. I'm not gonna pay $11 to see a remake.

People are saying that Martin Scorsese has returned to form with this one but am I the only one who thinks that sort of recognition is tarnished given the fact that it is a remake?

I saw The Departed on Friday and i've seen Infernal Affairs. Infernal Affairs is alot better movie. As for the roof scene it wasn't the same. Honestly for those who seen Infernal Affairs shouldn't watch The Departed. Well i'm guessing that's most asians. LOL

Infernal Affairs was a good movie, but The Departed is WAY better. It isn't even close. This isn't quite as good as goodfellas but its close IMO, and better than Casino.

This is definately worth seeing in the theatres. I saw it once and will probably see it a few more times in the theatres.

i was most surprised that Leo actually made me respect him as a actor for once. And markie mark's character is hilarious.

Saw it last night, havent seen the original version so I can not say if it was better or worse than that but, I loved the movie. Especially alec balwins character. The acting was the best I have seen in such a long time. It is refreshing to see a movie made this well after all the shit that has been thrown out there in the summer months.

2 was a Godfather 2 ripoff. Only good part was Francis Ng, but again he was a rip off of Michael Corlelone

I've seen Infernal Affairs and I thought it was mediocre. But The Departed is good, and imo, WAY better than Infernal Affairs., mainly because all the characters are better developed, and you grow a bit more attached to them. It's definitely worth seeing in theatres (2.5 hours long), as they change the storyline around a little bit. Mark Wahlberg is awesome, and Leo does a really respectable job in his role!

remake or not, NO ONE can touch Jack's performance in this film. Wahlberg's character was fantastic and the acting from leo, matt, alec, martin was top notch....Infernal affairs? What? Gimme a break LOL

Yeah the movie was good... BUT, yeah there's a but, the main female actress is pretty damn ugly. she's got the longest face. I wish they had Jessica Alba!!!:poosie:

I thought it was a pretty decent movie, I thought the ending was sub-par though, it seemed like they were in a real hurry to wrap it up. Everyone is the theatre was like.......whaaa?

*Spoilers*

Just saw it tonight, thought it was pretty good. Its funny though cuz if you've seen IA, you know exactly what happens like queenan getting thrown off the building or leo getting capped and everyone in the theatre is jus in complete shock while Im jus sitting there laughing. Anyways i thought this was a pretty kewl remake w/ alot of funny moments.

IA was more gangster. having it based on triads and everything. like compared to some boston gangsters...woop woop
both movies have their differences and both movies have better things to them.

i personally though liked IA better. it was more serious.

enjoyed it, but a little later picked apart the ending and found too many convenient things happened to make the it all end how it did. Good move for the most part though.

I like Internal Affairs better, and I think it took away from The Departed because i knew what was going to happen seeing as it was EXACTLY the same.

but don't get me wrong, Departed was awesome too, I just like IA better, I think IA was more dramatic.

PureDeXteritY

Departed is a really good movie, but I honestly don't see how people could think it's better than IA, and no I'm not a fob.

I totally agree with The EquAzn, IA was more dramatic.
*spoiler*
when the guy shot Leo, then Shot the black guy, then got shot by Matt, people in the audience were actually laughing because of everyone just getting shot... and In My Opinion that scene should be anything but funny.
and the rooftop scene in Departed was nothing compared to IA.

still, I'd say Departed is way worth watching. (especially if you haven't seen IA)

This movie was great, by far the best movie that I've seen in theatres for a while. Very entertaining.

anyone care to list the differences between the 2? Both are equally good movies imo but cant beat the og.

-Walbergs character gets killed early on in I.F
-I.F used morse code
-more relationship between cop mole and chief in I.F
-Damons character just shot the kingpin instead of being threatened first
-Damon/Lau survives
-Moles meet each other early on in a speaker store in I.F

Did you think they did a bad job with the accent, or do you just not like the boston accent?

I thought the elevator scene in Infernal Affairs makes a lot more sense than in the Departed. That's probably why it is less dramatic in the Departed.

Spoiler!

In Infernal Affairs, gang mole lives to suffer with guilt. That was his punishment like eternal living hell. He couldn't come clean and he couldn't be a real gangster neither.

In the Departed, Damon died. I didn't quite get it but if the western culture won't accept the bad guy to live then so be it.

The only thing that bugs me the most is there are like a billion Chinese in the world and every freaking time they couldn't find anyone who can speak decent cantonese. WTF
They are indeed so bad that if I didn't see their faces I would have thought that they were white guys trying to speak cantonese.

very good movie, deffinately buying it on dvd when it comes out. makes you think at times...

SPOILER ALERT!!... do not read the rest of this post if you did not watch movie

...like if jack nicolson was an FBI informant, then who was the FBI after at the beginning? he recruited matt daemon (sp?) aswell to be a bad guy

still a good movie
