If someone buys that they clearly have too much money.

come a long way since the documentary on discovery a few years ago, it was so unstable at vtol that it needed a good 50 feet in either direction because it could hit something.

And reading the "ask a question", he cannot produce a 8130 FAA certicate of compliance on any part in the "sky car", nor a certicifate of airworthiness - therefore, there is no fucking point buying it at all.

there's a vid on that link, but if you look carefully you can see the cable near the end and also at the very beginning there's a black mass hovering with the car which is probably a crane hook... gg at a huge scam lol!

They've been working on that skycar for like 10 yrs now.

10-10-2006, 07:21 AM
im pretty sure that black mass is a crane but it doesnt look like its pulling it up looks more like its keep it stable so it doesnt flip over or fly all over the place

looks like an insane machine tho 380mph top speed

well the thing is is that it's more plane than car and well if it look slike a plane they've already got that design down and it works. This thing is trying to use technology that hasn't been discovered yet. Like I said, too much money to burn if you want to buy this, which seems to be more or less just a sponsorship to fund their project, and in return you get the first model they built.

Too bad you can't take it on the road...or even fly it since it isn't registered with the FAA. And, did you notice you have to get ITAR clearance? Wow!

Since it's not approved by the FAA as an aircraft, it's just a giant leaf-blower for $1.75 million...

I like the elegant landing.

That's nothing! I've seen wings on Civics bigger than the one on the Skycar and Civics that can go 556mph (including HP added from stickers).

But seriously the Skycar is interesting. But for a million dollars, that can get me a SLR and an Ferrari Enzo (only topspeed of 225mph though :( ) ... plus minus some change

Anyone ever hear of the avrocar project by Avro Canada? Google it, looks like a flying saucer, and designed to take off vertically, then level off and go supersonic!

I think the amount of money that went into this project, I think they should came up with something better than a hover craft

I was checking the status of the auction the other day and I came across a question asked. I thought it was very funny and couldn't stop laughing. LOL

Q: is it possible to fit parking sensors to assist with landing in shopping centres (the misses wrote of my mk1 golf like that) thank you
Oct-13-06
A: The M400X prototype does contain a number of sensors, but none specifically for that purpose. We anticipate to equip the next generation prototypes with a wide array of sensors, high-resolution cameras, and perhaps a new form of low cost radar that could assist with landing maneuvers. We envision a time when the landing sequence would be fully automatic, or nearly so.

I know one sensor they need. A bullshit sensor.

you think if everyone on beyond chiped in 100 dollars we could bid on it?

its at $3M right now

Q: Does it come with a Flux Capacitor or similar?
Oct-13-06
A: The M400X prototype is powered by eight, internal combustion rotary engines, driving two fans that counter-rotate in each of the four ducted-fan nacelles....

Imagine the paypal fees if you tried to pay via paypal. 3% of $1M is $30k!

this made me rofl

The undercarriage of the M400X is designed to use lightweight aircraft tires and wheels. We do not recommend that the buyer change these without a thorough analysis of the impact on the design. Cargo space is limited in the M400X prototype, but the redesigned M400 has much more cabin space and can accommodate about the same amount of luggage as a compact car.

So you can't put "sweet rims" on it? Maybe even spinners?

Damn :banghead:

21 minutes to go till the auction ends. There must be a few beyonders out there with 3mil kicking around to buy this skycar.

Edit: the wire is obvious, but I think it's there for safety so their 10 yr project doesn't smash to the ground during tests if anything were to happen.

Auction ended at: 3,000,100 Reserve not met, I wonder how much there were expecting?

A million just of hover for a few minutes in your backyard? No thanks. Unless we can invent a way for a car to hover with completely no power, we'll never be in a hovering car.
