A touch off topic, but we once went to a place and our "salt and pepper" wings came plain, so we asked about them, she marched over and grabbed salt and pepper off the other table, set them down and left.... better than feathers though..

For Chinese restaurants, it's a badge of honor. Only dirty ones taste good because they spend the time cooking, not cleaning.

Imperial Palace

1120 Centre St. N.E.

This restaurant was closed temporarily on Jan. 6 after CHR staff found extensive grease buildup around the kitchen, a freezer in poor condition and tempura batter sitting under the sink.

Other issues noted in the inspector's report include motor oil stored above open dry goods and running shoes in the dish- washing area.

During a follow-up visit in April, an inspector saw live cockroaches.

Then there's that Little Bejing on Centre and 20th N.W. The owner use the same bucket to wash food and the floor. Plus they use left over crab/shrimp/lobster shells they clean off customers' tables to create soup base.

hmmm......

I'm surprised so many franchise restaurants are on the list. I've worked em' before, and they were completely obsessed with cleaning. I guess not all of them are on the ball.

I once had broken glass, and a single pubic hair in a bowl of Fettucine Alfredo at Earl's Willow Park. Hopefully the extra Alfredo sauce I ordered contained a steaming hot load of human cum as well.

That's not a bad list considering there's hundreds more that recieved infractions for the same shit only they were smart enough to clean it up on there second/third audit so they wouldn't get shut down.

I think since we're asian and our parents have grown up in poverty that they've built up our immune systems to tolerate dirty ghetto authentic food with no ill effects  plus if you guys have ever been back to the motherland and ate in places and came back alive then you guys will survive here

And theres a couple threads of this up...mods maybe combine them into one?

Hmm , I eat at the Home Town alot, I think the issue there was the food was going cold in the steam table, I was there when the inspectors were there taking temps of the food, and that is what they were most interested in...
Harbour city...You know those campground shitters after a grad party has gone through the campground and it was used by 50 people who ate taco bell then drank a dozen pilsner, then unleashed their alf alfa splatter on the non ventilated shitter huts....... Well I would eat something off the floors of those shitters before I ate anything out Harbour city's kitchen..
Eastgate, say no more...
Magik cooking house indeed, goes in solid, comes out liquid, its magic alright..
Really suprised by the "chain restaraunts" in the list, especially dennys, being formula food with a formual layout, it had to be a cooler issue or a dishwashing thing..
Pizzahut of all places.....
Hmm feathery chicking wings... Check the dumpster for pigeon heads....

The exposure will hurt these restaurants for sure but at least it should motivate them to get their shit together (and hopefully not dump it into the food).

The ones who were closed on multiple occasions should have a mandatory closure time that will hurt their business and teach them a lesson. >3 times is totally unacceptable and they should have their license revoked.

If it's anything over a month, the owner and name would change and business as usual. CHR can't stop this because you can't really audit new businesses.

east gate was okay not to great - kinda old..

pho so 1 is so sick...
i remember the last time i went there i asked for beef on the side.

and the beef was warm and sick looking so i put it in my soup to cook it - i tried to add some lemon to my meat but these slices were so small and looked like they had already been squished, so i tasted it and i tasted nothing but water.... these lemons were resoaked in water to make it look like a new lemon.

You know, if you report that, they will investigate. You can even email it in. Just make sure to qualify every statement with a weasel word so the owner can't sue you. I.e. It appears, apparently, I believe, etc.

I know why the Denny's on 4st N.E. was closed....
My wife's uncle worked there in the kitchen. One morning he cut his finger tip off while preparing some food. They never recovered it.....
I'll leave the rest up to your imagination, but this happened the day before/the day of the resteraunt closure. There is no way that they aren't related.
I used to eat there a lot. If I had known that scumbag was working in the kitchen then I wouldn't have eaten there.

You know, if you report that, they will investigate. You can even email it in. Just make sure to qualify every statement with a weasel word so the owner can't sue you. I.e. It appears, apparently, I believe, etc.

Well, I don't know if it's still the same owner or doing the same practice. I know the place has change hands a few times. And I got this from a former employee which I don't really need to know. When it comes to Chinese, I have a "don't ask if it taste good" policy.

where did you get that quote from? i didnt see that in the canada.com article.

It's actually the front page article which I can't find it on-line anymore. It details every violation each restaurant has.

its been said before and ill say it again... the dirtier the kitchen the tastier the food :D

i still think some of the places on that list should still be shut down ie: bubblemania the wash rooms there are horrific and i bet the kitchen is still the same

Washrooms are a good indicator of a restaurant's overall quality and sanitation. I went to a pizza joint in Forest Lawn (not by choice) and the washroom didn't have any soap and had obviously not for a while, the washroom was a train wreck. It was a tiny place with only one washroom shared by patrons and staff. Clearly, the staff don't wash their hands when they use the washroom.

Didn't think about it at the time, but I should have emailed it into the city.

And theres a couple threads of this up...mods maybe combine them into one?

in the country side of china the waitress served us soup while her black finger nail and her thumb was completly diped inside the soup. and the resturant bathroom is one room with little trench on the ground...that leads to the garden where they grow the veggies....and yes no stall so your doing your thing right next to another person doing his thing and they talk to you...thats right
