I'm thinking about getting a car, something you don't see everyday. Any thoughts or opinions on this car? It's on the j-spec imports page.

It's on page #9.

Edit: Forgot to add, any comments on j-spec would be appreciated as well.

I like it, but I'd hate to try and source parts for it. Therein lies the dilemma

Yep, I LOVE this car. 2-litre 200 hp turbo, 220 ft/lbs of torque + 4WD. basically 0-60 in 5.7 seconds, one of the quickest cars of it's day pretty much. It was based off of Lancia's WRC rally car kinda like what the Subaru Impreza is today.

Check with J-Spec about theft/damage insurance for ocean shipping, I believe they may only offer full loss insurance (ie. the vessel sinks). So if the car is damaged in shipping, you're paying out of your own pocket.

I'd also recommend looking at more examples. Check the Lancia Delta category on Yahoo Auctions:

There's also some decent variety at digital auction:

my question is, what if shit breaks? or like a belt or someting snapped? wtf can u do to source out the parts.

it pays to be unique, thats for sure.

No offense but that looks to me like a POS. If you bring over a car, at least bring over a nice one. I bet people in Japan give cars like that away, and you're willing to pay for it?

You people have no idea - this was the WRX/EVO of the late 80s/early 90s. Personally I'd love one. Parts can be sourced easily enough from Europe (UK if you want to speak English). Maintaince records would be a big bonus but likely not avaliable from an importer.

Integrales have tremendous presence on the road that really doesn't come across in photos. They have an amazing engine note too.

I was looking at bringing one from Germany last year (decided to put my money elsewhere), and they truly are amazing cars. What I learned to watch out for is:

1. Neglect - nothing turns them into lemons quite like lack of regular care and maintenance. They have an Italian temperment that way, and have a lot of stuff that can break packed under the skin.

2. Dodgy performance mods. They can very easily be tuned to make about 275 hp without too much trouble resulting, as long as it is done by a knowledgeable specialist. 350 hp is also apparently pretty easy to achieve, but expect stuff to break far more quickly. The engine bay is a tight one to get into as well.

This one looks like it may not have seen too much in the way of TLC of late... The cloth interior is butt ugly too - if you can find one of the black leather interiors, much better.

I personally am thinking about waiting until next year, I think, when the final edition of Evo II's becomes available for import.
