is the rumor iv been hearing about them changing the import law of 15 year old cars to 20 years old by 2007?? cuz im looking into importing a skyline from Dubai and the 91 r-32 is the newest i could import, however with this new law it would be bumped back to 87 year old cars in 2007, THAT WOULD SUUUUCK.

Its probably just that, a rumor

I doubt that's true. Even if it did occur, they wouldn't deport all the cars already imported, as was the case with the few evo's that got in.

there is always "talk" and not much action, laws take a LONG time to make, one time you can be thankful that the government is slow ;)

Law enforcement is probably seeing an import trend and want to slow it before it get worse.

But like finboy said, it'll take time.

Actually it is part of some initiatives that were put in place originally by the liberals a couple years ago and look to be continued by the harper government, this is not huge news but it simply has to do with them reducing the number of performance vehicles in the hands of little punks, rightfully so.

When i was working at traffic court the number of tickets you'd see where they had kiddies going 50+ over the limit was insane, more than a few the officers had written "Silvia and skyline". The issue here is cars that are 15 years old being handed over to a young kid is not the safest thing in the world, wouldn't you agree....

Then they need to fix the GDL system, and maybe the type of vehicles they can drive...:dunno:

Nothing to do with that, ages i would see would range from 16-22 usually for the really bad tickets. None the less it is still unsafe to give a younger kid a 200-300hp 2000-2500lb car that is 15 years old. When you see dozens of tickets like this a month in our city alone you need to imagine the entire nation. And then think that sooner or later one of these speeding vehicles is going to cause death, which they have and do. It is not just going to be a trend to get rid of import vehicles but a trend to try to force people to have only certain types of modifications, imagine california type laws.

Living in a conservatism nation that actually thinks the conversative party is good can be a bitch.

One of the more memorable tickets i saw was a black talon that got pulled over for going "150" on mcleod trail near the cemetry where it approaches the stampede where the limit is a 60. people that do things like that are a little more than scary.

And then think that sooner or later one of these speeding vehicles is going to cause deathThe vehicles wouldn't be hitting things if the drivers had some sense.

I'd like to see mandatory, regulated driver training and a broader, stricter licensing exam. Of course none of that will stop a retard from being a retard, I'm not sure anything can prevent human nature from running its course, but I'd like to see it anyway.

well i dont think so, since he was born in Dubai, he has connections there, but thats beside the point, everything is dirt cheep out in the middle east (his words) and he claims it would be a lot cheaper to have them do any mods for a much cheaper cost then anything here. then ship over the fully finished car either RORO (roll on roll off) which is basically they drive the car on the boat and drive it off in like st. John's or something, and you have to pick it up and ship it to where you live or drive it back to where you live. though that wouldn’t be all that legal since you probably wouldn’t insure it in st. john's lol. or have it shipped over in a like a wooden crate which costs more. i think the RORO is like 2400 dallars and the crate is like 3200 or something. thats if you wana import it personally, not using a service or used car dealership taht would do it for you.

and i think it would just be so awesome to have a very rare left hand drive skyline in Canada. the Japanese are my heroes.

well and thats what hes guna have to call around for, cuz no matter what a 91 r32 is guna be used.

Actually he was racing as the officer had it or trying to catch up "crotch rockets". I have seen all kinda of crazy tickets though, fastest i had seen was a silver ferrari that got pegged at 230km/h on highway 22x.

Cars in the UAE have to be left hand drive. Its the law. All RHD vehicles there have had conversions. There are a couple tuner shops there now that actually do a stellar job and not expensive as one would think. A lot of those cars I'm sure are driven the piss out of them. Too much money in UAE for anyone to grandma-drive a sports car. A LHD drive skyline would be perfect but not worth getting the car from UAE or losing your left nut to get the conversion done properly here, which still wouldn't be that great.

As for the rule being changed, wait till the imports/exporters start crapping. Everyone will hear about it. Until then, I'm not worried.
