91' 180SX, would this vehicle be running on OBD I, or is this pre-OBD???

I though the first CPU controlled fuel injection was OBD

You're probably right... I'm just stupid...
Should be OBD I then. I think most cars after 96' are OBD II?

Also, would an OBD-II scanner be backwards compatible with an OBD vehicle? If backwards compatible are we talking about limitations in the capabilities of the scan tool in the OBD-I environment?

no from what i understand they would communicate, but the codes in obd 1 only go from 100 - 199 or something and in obd 2 its 0 - 1000 and each 100 is a new section (fuel injection, emmisions, airbag... yada) and the codes mean diff things

i would double check on this I dont know for sure, but this is what I think i learned in mechanics

OBD is north america only.

No JDM cars are OBD anything
