hey guys,

i started a thread about what kind of car I should get, and WRX was one of em, and by the sounds of it, its the car I want.

Few questions though.

First I dont have enough money for the new STi, otherwise I wouldnt be asking these questions.

1.) In the last gen regular WRX, is it true the engine is different from the STi? and if so how much worse is it... can I make it just as fast or will it always be a little behind.

2.) Used STi's good/bad?

3.) where to go in calgary to look at new ones, I only know the place on MacLeod and it seems small.

4.) Should I just suck it up and buy a new WRX, I know they have the same STi engine (detuned a bit) and i dont mind the styling, would rather the old style though

thanks

brendan

06+ WRX has the 2.5L engine, diff turbo from the STi.

02-05 WRX has the 2.0L.

Nuthin wrong with a used STi, saves you some cash.

But if you really want to save some cash you can import a US STi new for low 30's and used for 25-30k.

1) The engine is a 2.0L. The STi is a 2.5L The turbo on the STi is bigger. You can make it just as fast, but at the expense of reliability.

2) Nothing wrong with used. Just do your own due diligence.

3) Nothing wrong with a small dealership. There is another subaru dealer in the north on Barlow.

4) The long block in the 2006 WRX and the STi are not the same. The piston design is different to accomodate the air pump that was required for emissions.
