Hey peeps,

Top Speed will be coming to the Eau Claire IMAX near the end of the month. The film is sponsored by Porsche and was partially shot in Kananaskis. I'll probably be at the press preview screening, so I'll let you know how it is. Based on what I've heard, it's a pretty decent film.

I've seen it. It sucks balls. They feature:

-the build-up/testing of the Porsche Cayanne. This is boring and is a big old Porsche add.

- Marion Jones. This is kind of cool. It shows the mechanics and competition level of a world class sprinter. This is a big Nike add.

- A guy racing a LeMans prepped Porche 911. Some good footage here, but not really enough. A big Porsche add.

- Some 37yo world class mountain biking lady. I'm sorry, but mountain biking is hard to make seem exciting with a video a camera. I love doing it though.

All round suckage if you ask me. Tim Allen hosts it an does a good job. I saw it for free, and thought it was a waste of time.

I dunno which one you saw...the first cut did suck balls...hence why they redid most of the film. The print version is supposedly much better.

It's a documentary on speed...Sponsored by Porsche, so yeah, pretty much one big ad in IMAX film format. Both of the new Matrix films have been done in IMAX film formats as well. Stay tuned for news on that.

The best IMAX IMO was the Super Speedway, made about 6 years ago. It featured The building of Michael Andrettis Indy Car, as well as the restoration of Mario Andretti's old school car. You can buy it at future shop and it is an absolutely amazing DVD. Also very good for those who have a decent home theater setup.

I saw it about a month ago at the Edmonton release of the Cayanne. I think it was the final version (?)
