Hey Everyone,

I have recently been pondering about selling my 91 Integra 4 Door for a 91 Toyota Soarer. I love the way the car looks and drives, except i'm not sure on the reviews of the car. What do you guys think, let me know.

^ Yup. 2JZ TT. That would be my choice if I was to import a car. I saw 86max's and it's PIMP. Plus it's really handy having a sister car (Lexus SC300) so at least you'll be able to get body parts/windshields/etc.

Hey 'T-Dubbs', are there any major mechanical issues that you had with yours? What would you predict if you where to put your car on the 1/4 mile?

1JZs are extremely reliable motors (BULLETPROOF!). The only thing you have to watch out for is the oil seals in the turbos.

These motors are a lot quicker then you think. In stock form, in Calgary, you can expect atleast 250rwhp from them.

I would put the car somewhere in the mid 14 second range.

I say get the Soarer, you won't be dissappointed. Out of curiosity, Is it a 5-speed, or an auto?

From what Ive heard, they only came in Automatic form, and all the 5 spds out there have been swapped in. Dont know 100% if thats true, but if it is, I would be careful of the tranny. Them crazy japs do weird things to their cars (siliconing the bodykit to the car  ). But either way, it would be a great car, those 1JZ's are SEXY! Good luck!

I think there were a few factory 5-speeds, but they're damn near impossible to find. That's why I asked.

:werd:

I'm looking to pick one up for next year so as of right now i'm trying to locate one that is stock with low/mid KM's. Yes, they didn't start mass producing the five speeds until 1997, I think. Watch out for those manual transmissions that are older than that.

Edit: this guy is selling one:

I saw it parked outside Earl's a few days ago, the pics don't do any justice.

I've seen a few in the shop...watch out for suspension wear...parts prices / availability will ruin your day

Thats sounds awesome, the one that I have my eye on at the moment is a 1991 Toyota Soarer in manual transmission. The only major concern that I have heard with the Soarers is that the odometer tends to act up, when its colder outside part of the odometer lights up and when it gets warmer the other part then lights up. I'm really debating on if I want a Soarer or should I wait till the 95 Lancer Evo's are ok to import?

The odometer/gauge clusters have an intermittent problem where they turn on and off at different temperatures or lengths of time. If the odometer goes out, it still counts the mileage, it just doesn't display it.

So other then the odometer problem the vehicle from what everyone saids about them seems to check out very well. I guess its time to start saving up. Thanks everyone.

What is your opinions on a 5 spped or Automatic, which one would be faster?

I say go with the 5 speed... better acceleration and they're funner.

Uhm, I know that the auto *turbo* supras are faster because they manage to hold boost through the shift. Since this is the 1jzgte I'd suspect auto would be good as well. The auto tranny has also been known to be more reliable when producing higher HP numbers (even if it's the 6-speed swapped in). Auto is much more easily found, and chances are if it's a 5-speed manual, it's been beaten on by previous owner.
