View Full Version : Where are the Cowtown people going for winter tires this year?

I think I need some dedicated winter tires. A big RSB and a bunch of other suspension goodies have made my car a little loose on the winter roads so Im thinking that I should get some sticky rubber for the cold months.

So where is everyone going for winter tires this year? I need some good deals. I need two sets of steelies (one for the suby and one for the wife's stratus) and two sets of dedicated winter tires. Although I may just forego the suby steelies and just use my stock 16s which have been sitting in the basement for years now.

Also, where does everyone go for cheap steelies?

If anyone knows someone with a friend or distant relative that sells tires pass me along some contact info.

PS I have sent mytires an email over a week ago but got no response.

I go to Tirecraft. Really, prices are so close everywhere, so I stick with whomever gives me better service .

This will be my 3rd season on KW-17. Dunno why they are lasting so long the way I drive.

I had Hankook's on my CRX last time, and they lasted a good 3 years and it still looked new when I sold the set.

Picked up Nordic IceTrac's when they were clearing them out at Crappy Tire. Don't have the receipt right now, but they were pretty damn cheap.

I bought online from the US (subydude on NASIOC). Having the Brembos means that I can't roll on steelies, so i bought a set of 17" x8" Rota Boost with their Blizzak LM-25 package.

Once these wear out, I'll probably pick up a set of the Hankook Icebear W300's that other people have recommended.

In Calgary, CMS, Kaltire, and Mytire can all give you nice prices. Some of us out of town order on line.

I ended up ordering KW19's from Tiretrend. Various places' prices are close. The local shops have Michelins and Bridgestone but they cost 70% more.

Does mytires not answer emails? :dunno: I have sent them a couple of emails expressing my serious interest in tires and I haven't recieved any responses yet.
