Wonderful. Don't they have better things do be doing with their time and money than chasting the elusive Star Wars project?

No, mostly just the US. I really want to see how much they have to spend to do this. And everyone thought that the States debt was bad before.

Now that I think of it, didn't the U.S. sign a treaty preventing the militarization of space?

Who can't see this coming?

Ground wars are depending more and more on satellite and GPS. Escpecially now robots are joining in. Making all these satellites prime targets in a war.

Though I don't know anyone but Russia/China has ways to shoot them down.

Any country advanced enough to send things into outerspace is too powerful for the USA to mess with. For the past couple of decades the US has had a policy of only fighting/invading countries that are orders of magnitude weaker than they are.

I hope the Iraq war breaks the American economy.

Hate to tell you but with a current debt of $8.5 trillion and growing by $1.6 billion/day, I wouldn't exactly call the US economy healthy as it currently stands.

I don't think you quite understand how closely tied the American and Canadian economies are.

"The Clinton policy opened the door to developing space weapons, but that administration never did anything about it," Krepon said. "The Bush policy now goes further." :thumbsdow

I think very few people on this board do.. you'll all be anti-american until the fallout of a shit economy there comes and hits every single facet of the Canadian economy.. Oh well, you'll all learn :D

Oh I'm very aware of how closely tied global economies are to the USA's. However, America's culture of hyperconsumerism is ridiculous, and needs to end. If it doesn't, our environment is going to hell in a handbasket. The USA alone is responsible for 25% of global oil usage, and the only country that has a higher per-capita energy usage is us, Canada. The average person in an industrialized European country uses half the energy per year that we do.

The American economy is already starting to falter, while the EU is steadily strengthening. My original opinion still stands: I hope the Iraq war breaks the American economy-- as in: pushes it into a recession. When that happens, I'll stick it out in Canada for as long as the economy allows, and after that, I'll happily pack my bags and move to Europe
