Keep an eye out in the wheel section of the marketplace. I just picked up a set of mint condition 17X7 stock WRX wheels for $500. Much better than steelies. :D

Those ASA rims are the JH3 model.

problem with them is that they are 7.5 inches wide. Fine for 2004, but 2005 has 8.0" wide wheel stock. Nothing wrong with that, but why would you go narrower?

I have rota torques. You can probably get a set for about $800. maybe even less.

Narrower is actually better for winter conditions.

I took benyl's advice (again) and bought a set of Rotas. LOL, benyl you are becoming my personal Subie advisor.

Bought the Rotas from Subydude on NASIOC. Really awesome guys to deal with. The shipping costs include all the duties, brokerage and taxes, so it may seem steep at first, but there is no additional charge from UPS once they deliver them. I was also impressed by how quick I got the rims, considering they were sent ground - 1 week from the ship date.

Narrower tires yes. Narrower rims make no difference.

They had a package with Rotas and Blizzak LM-25 V-rated tires. I can't comment on the snow/ice traction yet, but they are actually pretty decent on the dry and wet pavement. Not much louder than stock, except at certain speeds when I can hear a bit of a buzz from them.
