Who has the biggest steak in Calgary? I heard that Mother Tuckers and maybe the Ranchmans have a 72 oz. that if you finish it it's free. I heard that a restaraunt on 7th Ave. did the same thing. Anyone have specifics? Any one here actually finish one? I need a challenge!!!!

Not worth it. Even if you do finish it you will feel like crap for a week afterwards.

A few years ago, my buddy (6'4 315 lbs) tried to eat a 72 oz steak at Mother Tuckers in Winnipeg once ($159). He got through 3/4 of it and was about to puke.

So if you think that you can eat 9 steaks go for it. Why anyone would do it is beyond me.

159$ isnt worth the gamble, cheaper to just buy high quality steak in a store and then use the left over $ to make you feel better when you fail the practise run at home, lol.

Yes there probably is a time limit. The Graze restuarant inside Royal Executive Inn has a challenge like this but not sure how big the steak is..but they pay for your meal if you finish it but catch is you gotta finish it within an hr or two..can't remember.

A few friends of mine did the 72 oz steak challenge amongst themselves at Ranchmans. It was $80-95 for the steak I believe which you have to pay for in advance. There was 4 of them doing it and yes you have 1 hour to finish the steak, potato, salad, and beans then it's free. If you don't finish the whole meal then you have to pay for it.

Only one of them came close.....he ate the most at 68 oz.

Damn with only 4 oz left you think you would be able to force it down, keep it there, and then throw it up once they tell you its free, haha. Or even find some orfice in your body to store it until its free, when they aren't looking. But I've never tried it so I shouldn't talk.

I think I am going to try a trial run at home; pick up a 2 kg roast (4.4 lbs ab. 54 oz.) and giver a go. Seriously, I can eat a lot of roast or steak-once ate 4-12 oz. T-bones and all the trimmings plus a bucket of beer in one sitting at a bbq-only downfall was the 4 days of consipation!

Here is what a 72oz looks like. I have eaten the 72oz ribeye at the Texas Longhorn Cafe in Mississauge, as well as the 72oz at the Country Kitchen in Portland. The current record at the TLC is 103oz.

Looks scarier than it really is though... BTW, the official time limit at steak eating competitions is 1.5 minutes per ounce.

The biggest steak I ever ate was at "the Primehouse" (not sure if that is the right name) in Chicago. I don't remembe rthe size but nobody at our table finished what they ordered.

Is that you in the pic? or someone else?

hah, regardless, im just picturing the size of that steak over that guys body, plus the sides, and holy crap, i dont know how someone can fit all of that into their body. Lol, I wonder what kind of punishment (space-wise) it gives your organs.

Congrats on finishing that thing! Thats nutz

People consider i eat a lot. After seeing that picture i dont even understand how you could fit that in your stomach. It looks as big as ur stomach and chest combined. Either way nice work on getting it done.

i personally don't eat alot of meat, and a 8oz steak ussually satisfies me

Yes, that is me. That pic was taken in March 2001. I really wouldn't recommend just anybody attempting a large steak. Before I eat a steak that size, I start stretching my stomach a couple days in advance. If I didn't, I'd never be able to get it all down.

lol, almost a 6 year old bump I know, but I'm just curious and wanted to update.

Anyone know of anything like this in Calgary, post it up.

Come on, Alberta's marketing on their quality beef and no restaurant has this kind of challenge? That would be lame.

72 oz is just ridiculous, holy shit :nut:

^ Dont quote me on this, but if you ask the servers at Smugglers Inn, they have a 48oz and a 72oz steak cuts as well. Its not on the menu (not surprisingly) but they do have them if people specifically ask for them. I think the 72oz is $96. the 48oz, is $60 (?) dont quote me on the 48oz, it was only the 72oz that stuck in my mind not surprisingly.
If I was with a friend, I would have ordered that since for $96 thats EASILY enough to feed two people.
