Since I am fairly new to the province I was wondering how this works in Alberta. I am told by a few companies that you need to get a safey inspection when you purchase a car that is 10 years or older.

If this is the case, how does anybody ever buy an older car without all the hassle? I ask this because I just wanted to pick up something cheap for the winter but I know that the repairs stemming from an inspection may cost more than the winter beater itself. Does anybody have any experience or recommendation? Do you buy a used car conditionally to a satisfactory inspection?

Vehicles 12 years and older.

This is the form. My insurance company sent me a bigger one, but they said all they need is this one(This has less items on it):

So there is not too much to it. Doesn't check the speedometer/hazards/body.

If something is wrong you just send the reciept to the insurance company when you get it fixed.
