Did it last year, VERY boring..
but also VERY easy , alot of sitting around
most of the guys on the service rig reffer to us as 'resters' ;)

My co-worker used to do that... I'll be doing that part time. Its extremely easy.. every 2 hours you have to put down your porn and go check on a few valves & gauges. That takes a couple minutes... then you can resume your porn. I've heard that EXACT explanation for 5 different people. I'm not joking. Inpecting titties... inspecting gauges: then back to the titties. Its very slack. Especially the night shift. It depends on the company but expect $2k-$3k a paycheck full time. :hitit:

Do you stay on site until the well completion or do you travel around testing different wells every week or so.

2k to 3k every paycheck? Is that bi-weekly or per month.

Is there any overtime ?

Are meals and accomodations included.

And are the porn mags supplied J/K

Long Hours ...
& pretty shity pay, considering others working on the rig
starting somewhere around 125-150$ : 12 hr shift..

accomodation (aprox. 50$? forget) / including hotel

some nights, you do bi-hourly gauge checks
but others you can expect to stay out for the whole night

pumping ethanol in -30 so the bean choke doesn't freeze up SUX.

if you plan to stick with testing - you can make some coin in the long run, with devotion of time..

but its not for everyone

There's an online course being offered to become a "Well Test Operator".It consists of 6 levels at approx. $250 per level.

Is it worth taking this course or can you get on as WTO with no experience ?

Are there as many jobs available for WTO as there are for the other rig jobs.

many jobs for well testers....fuck our testers did fuck all...literally..

they ahd to run some pipe when we first got to the rig to the flare stack...and the the valve on the spool......for the next 2 weeks he would have to record some pressure ratings at the manifold and thats about it.

I think ouy guys were from "canadian subsurface"???

something like that....they dont make as much as a roughneck, but holy fuck they do jack shit.

How much do you think these guys (WTO) earn a year including OT,Camp stay,Travel money, etc. ? (Total)

Know point going through the WTO course and then putting up with all the cold and seclusion for only 40k/year.Almost make that working in (Warm)warehouse in Edmonton or Calgary.

This (Online)course I'm looking at has (6 levels) to it, but only the 1-2-3 show course content while the last 3 levels are still pending content.

You need to complete all 6 levels to recieve a certificate.

Tell me what you think please.

To me this course looks reletively new, so I'm wondering if a WTO position is under revision(Higher Saftey Standards etc.)and will have more responsibility and pay more in the near future.

You will learn how to describe the use of pH paper (actually getting to dip a piece in vinegar must be for the grad students only???). There are definitely some industry specific modules that would be worthwhile to a new person, but you have to wonder what level this would be taught at if half of it is designed for people with down syndrome.

What position do hold in the Oil and Gas sector ?

Do you think this course is worth taking or should I just apply and hope to get trained on the job ?
