Why does my mileage suck?

So I am currently cruising in the 91 Acclaim (103 HP BABY), and yeah.... my mileage sucks. I get about 350 km to a tank of about 48 litres..... My mom had the same car and got about 500 km to a tank, and hers was a v6..... mine runs smoothly, doesnt burn oil.... i don't drive it hard at all....any thoughts? I wouldnt mind if i got around 400 km to a tank, but 350? Thats just LAME.

Its a V4 2.2L engine.

Could it just be its an old crappy car and I have to live with it?

Never have.... as I bought it used about 1 month ago. Air filter seemed OK when I looked at it....I should probably change the plugs.

Oh don't forget to check the tire pressure (though I doubt it would take that big a bite out of the mileage).

I was getting about 300KMs to a tank in city. Got a new o2 sensor now I get just about 400.
