h0ly fuck!h0ly fuck!h0ly fuck!

A new stock 911 GT2 w/ rwd and around 450hp &Tq does 0-60 in 3.6, so that's really amazing!

It was a Lingenfelter Corvette. Fastest street legal car -- ever. :)

Evan
07-17-2002, 10:18 PM
Err, my bad. The car was actually 1.7 seconds and it was only a prototype :( The one I was thinking about was the prototype :(

But there is a Lingenfelter that can do it in 3.7 seconds, which was the fastest street legal car, but now this Porsche looks like it may take the title. :)

Man oh man....

Rage... why don't you do something like that to your Porsche?? I have a sneaking suspicion that his engine will only last him 10,000 miles or less! LOL

the TT ZO6 lingenfelter vette does 0-60 in 1.7 seconds, 1/4 mile in mid to high 9's on slicks, and a top speed of 240 miles an hour.

you too can have one...

if you have a ton of cash.

Yes, but for the price of a stock 911 Turbo, you can get a 9 second 'Vette and a bit of change.

170k for a 911 Turbo.
65k for a 'Vette + 85k for Lingenfelter mods = 150k, which leaves you enough money for a Sentra SE-R or something like that.

Personally, I would take both :D:thumbsup:

i dont care about cost, its a status thing...

Hakkola
07-18-2002, 03:48 PM
Not just status, take off the badges, the Porsche is a better looking car with not just speed, but also luxury, look at the interior of that thing, looks better than my Benz which isn't built for speed unlike this machine, look at the interior of a corvette, if money ain't a thang, why not have speed and luxury as opposed to just one.

The Vette will also save you $10,000 in repair costs. Plus you will get to drive your car more than your machanic.

Porsches (newer ones, at any rate) are fairly reliable machines.

If it were between a Corvette or Porsche, I would say Porsche. They are so much nicer. Both cars are nice, but Porsche just adds an extra "oomphh0" with it's performance and luxury :)

The 993's and 996 Turbos have a nice history of engine failures. Not as widespread as the E46 M3's but there's been a small handful reported on the net over the years.

But seriously, of all the "supercars" the porsches are the ONLY ones that have the reputation of being daily drivable. And, of my experience wiht them (I know a couple of guys from the CSCC with them, both with boxsters) and they say they are the most reliable cars they have owned.

If you look after your turbo'd car it will be reliable, just like anything else if its cared for properly.

Yeah and that extra "oomphh0" costs you 100K!!! For that kinda money that's the way it should be. Personally I would love to have the Porsche; however for the money the Corvette is an amazing machine and is one that can keep up to the Porsche.

Yep, fo each his own...someone buying that Porsche isn't going to care one bit whether there is a faster car (ie the Vette TT)...its about staus, prestige, and personal feelings...A Porsche, Ferrari, Lambourghini owner/lover would most cirtanly not concider a vette, or any other of the above if that is thier dream car... regardless of cost when looking into those models...in most cases that is...

I'll use my situation as just a relevent neutral example, I myself would NEVER buy a Honda (S2000 Exempt :D ). I have Nothing against them I think they are awesome cars and are good value for money and on and on, I'm just not a honda guy...I like euros...BMW, VW, Mercedes, etc... and nothing one might say or do can change that...I have no problem admiting a good car made by any manufacturer, its just in the end I would prefer a car of European design...this debate can be discussed well on both sides...domestic lovers are always going to point out the huge power for low cost whereas import lovers will always point out technology and build quality...

Its the way it looks like it will be for quite some time...although lately some domestics have definatly stepped up thier attention to detail...WTG

Don't get me wrong, the Z06 is a fantastic machine, but money being no object there would be a 911 TT sitting in my garage. Why? Three words: ALL WHEEL DRIVE :D
