Why would you do that?

If you want a drag car put that motor in something else. The S2000 is such a well balanced vehicle that would kill it, and the size of the turbo would take for every for it to build boost, it would be really hard to drive that car fast on anything other than a straight line.

used S2000 $24000
built supra motor $6000
big turbo $3000

Supra powered S2k: pointless

I think the swap is more of "Because we can" type of swaps. Not really for a purpose...

That's very cool to see!

On the S2000 though, the best parts are the motor and the handling but now the motor is gone and the handling is offset...so I agree that it's original but not really for any advantage.

he probably loves the way the s2000 looks but hate its performance in a straight light.... haha

I doubt it, he's been offering to do the swap for other S2000 owners for $15,000.

As an added note, he has to remove some sort of front support brace to fit in the engine, which probably hurts rigidity. Going from the small, set-back I4 to a longer, iron I6 probably makes it understeer like a drunken camel.

Wow you are an idiot.

First off, the 2JZ is maybe 100lbs, 200lbs top heavier than the S2000 motor. With the "front mid" configuration of the S2000, meaning engine and tranny BEHIND the front axels, you'd see 1 or 2% change in F/R weight bias. Hell you can probably get away without changing spring rates with that small difference in weight. Saying that'll kill handling is like saying having a passenger in the S2000 will kill handling.

Second, I'll bet 99% of the drivers here won't be able to tell the difference in handling with 200lbs more behind the front wheels on a handling course. The 1% that can tell the difference will learn to adapt to it very quickly.

A good example, if you ever get a chance, drive a Monster Miata. I've driven one, and really, it does NOT kill the handling, even tho that massive ford V8 is a lot heavier than the stock I4. If I remember right, there was a 5% shift in F/R weight bias. It actually made the car want to rotate *better*, which suited my driving style. Took out the understeer. Could've been the power too, but point is it was better for me.

Now to your hard to drive comments, how is a turbo car hard to drive? Seriously, it doesn't take much skill. Sure it's different, takes a bit to adapt to turbo lag, have to be more careful with gear selection to ensure you're in the powerband. But you almost have the same problem with the stock S2000 motor. Power out of a corner in 3rd gear at too low rpms and you'll know exactly what I mean.

IMO, this would make the S2000 a MUCH better car, since the stock drivetrain is weak and tends to break at the 400hp mark. With a realistically sized street turbo on a 2JZ, this would be an insane car to drive both on the streets and on the track.
