there is an hks unit that gets rid of it. But i hope you get your license cut up going anything over 120 in the city

Haha I had a car with a 170 govener. At first I was mad... Then I realized that I never, ever needed to be going 170. People dont even hit that on the1/4 mile lol....... Is it really worth your license(In a BEST case scenario)..... Just something to think about.

well its true dude. 30 over the limit is a killer ticket let alone a 100-120 over the limit

its stupid, and the last thing you need is to either have your license cut up or your insurance to sky rocket. what do you think the insurance company will think when they see a ticket like that, probably tell you to get lost. so keep it safe

lots of people go over 100 mph (~160 kph) on the 1/4. It's a legitimate question, although I doubt his sr's doing over 100 mph on the 1/4. The Hks thing laurier was talking about is called the fcd, you can also get your eprom tuned to eliminate the speed cut. Autodream and a couple people on the boards can do this for you. You can't just magically cut out a chip to make the governor go away, it's a pretty extensive process

On my car, you can just cut the speed sensor wire to the ECU :) Of course, it throws a CEL. Now I run a standalone, and don't have to worry about it.

I can think of a very legitimate reason to have the speed cut removed: Dyno runs. In 4th gear, at 7500, my car's doing 220km/h.

there are many legitimate reasons to have it removed, that's why they make specialty products for it (like the hks fcd, yeah i made a mistake it's called the fcd). Hitting fuel cut on the dyno is the suck

Speedtech sells and has in stock greddy speed limiter cut.

I hit 173 kph on the 1/4 mile. Some of the SRT-4 guys are in the 200 kph ballpark.

I don't know why people are giving this guy such a hard time. This is a performance car site, or at least I thought it was. It has a place. Governors suck ass anyway.

11.98 @ 134 mph = 215kph, 180 isn't fast unless your a pussy. LO don't be jealous becaue some people's cars can go that fast maybe one day yours will too.

Dont waste money on speed limiters. Get the ecu re-tuned for it. The greddy limiter when you find it usually is 100 or more. I doubt you'd find it for that price in calgary, my thinking would be 200 plus for it. Speedtech likely does it have it but their retail markup is worse than the bay, i'm sorry but their prices on mostly everything are beyond stupid.

Oh and when you do get caught let us know so we can go bid on your car at the impound lot.

Fuel cut is not speed cut.

Fuel cut is a safety feature built into the ecu to prevent over-boosting. There are HKS FCD, and SCD though.

Im sorry dymz, but I don't have anything to prove. I am not jealous, if you read my previous posts they all have to do with street driving because he did not specify why he wanted to go faster than 180. And the last thing you want is to lose your license at an early age because of something stupid.

I know i couldn't live without my license. i would probably live at home sitting on beyond all day bitching at people who drive like they are super man. learn from peoples mistakes cause there are some things you don't want to learn for yourself

LOL, he has been bitching at me for a long time

i would expect some of the thing that come from him to come from a 16 year old, not a 35 year old or how ever old he is

Back on topic.....It might be Alot easier to get a new ECU that comes with no speed limiter, different fuel maps, raised rev limiter... several companies make them for MR2's..blitz, apex'i etc...and i found a used blitz one for $300 on ebay.... so i assume they would make them for a 240:dunno: search around on ebay etc...
