Guy in Calgary is selling this lens....
not sure if it is worth it.

I would like to buy a Canon lens instead of a Sigma, but i think they do okay.

Sorry, I can't give a personal opinion as I have never used it, but Sigma does make some quality gear.

For the money you'd spend (used price) I think you would be happy with iit. It's fast @ 1.8, fairly wide... One of the downsides though is that it doesn't come with HSM.

I had this lens on my Nikon. It's a VERY specialized lens because your other lenses likely have this focal length covered. At 1.8, it's quite soft, but sharpens up considerably by about 2.8. 2.2 is ok too. But it's uses are limited to dark indoor locations, and unless you have 2 bodies, you'll be switching it out often. Focus is a little slow, and it's also quite a big lens (82mm filter!!!).

For me, unless I was making money from photography, I'd just pass. Instead, save your money and get the Tamron 17-50mm 2.8. Sharp AND cheap and 2.8 (which is what I did)!!
