Cellular phone as modem

I want to use my cellular phone as a modem for my laptop and PDA. I contacted telus and found that it would cost minimally $5 dollars a month (which is fine) but $15 dollars per megabyte. Even though I'll most be using the wireless internet for e-mail it might be hard to stay below a meg. Does anyone know of a cheaper alternative?

yeah i racked up about 80 dollars when i used my cell phone as a moden, and all i did was open up the beyond main page and see the new topics.

due to the speed and the cost it's not really worth it
