So I was just wondering when exactly the st205's came out. I know about the 15 year old rule, so I'm guessing like 2008 or 2009?

I want one so bad, it's like a mini-supra...with imho better styling cues and awd.

Anyone else gonna pick one up?

In 1971, Toyota introduced the Celica in the US. Since then, the Celica has progressed, gradually becoming better and better. In October 8th, 1993, Toyota publicly unveiled the new sixth generation Celica. The sixth generation Celica featured strikingly beautiful curves, somewhat resembling the Celica's big brother, the Supra. The US only saw two models of the sixth generation Celica, the 1.8 liter 7A-FE powerd ST and the 2.2 liter 5S-FE powered GT. Gone were the mighty All-Trac and the GT-S. Canada recieved the GT-S in addition to the two other configurations.

In Europe and Japan and Australia, a sixth generation Celica GT-Four was offered. This car was powered by a 2.0 liter 3S-GTE turbocharged engine producing 239 horsepower in the European version and 251 horsepower in the Japanese version, pushing the car from 0-60 mph in just 6.1 seconds. The GT-Four also featured all wheel drive for outstanding handling and quick launches.

In 1994, the Celica was only available in coupe and hatchback form. Air bags were standard on all models, and anti-lock brakes were available on all as well. In 1995, Toyota introduced the convertible version of the sixth generation Celica. The Celica convertible was available only in GT form, and featured a power soft-top. The 1996 sixth generation Celica had the option for side skirts, and the front grill area of the car was redesigned to include optional driving lights, which were standard on GT models. In 1998, the ST model was no longer offered, and all new Celicas in the US were now GT models. In 1999, the coupe model was discontinued. In 2000, the seventh generation Celica was introduced in the US, replacing the sixth generation Celica.

There is some sort of a "loop-hole" to bring these in early but I do not know how it works. There are a couple real ST205's in the states and IIRC one or two up here in Canada floating around. There are also a couple conversions around somewhere.

The very first ones that were made in Oct 1993 are.

loophole lies in figuring how to get something in as a temporary importation, then full importation once the legal date has passed. That's the legal way anyways.

I was reading about a guy in the states. Its fully imported and registered, althought it is not registered properly. His title states that the car is a ST204/1995 USDM Celica ST, when in reality it is a ST205/1994 JDM Celica GT-4.

He was thinking about selling it, and theoretically it should be no different than buying any other US car, since it has been registered and has a US title.

The first one may have been built in Oct 1993, but I wouldn't expect to find one built until February 1994 (import in Feb 2009), less than 100 were made before Feb 1, 1994 and those are likely very difficult to find if they were even made available to the public at all.

I never said finding one of the first ones made would be easy/possible...

Nothing, I love her. However, I need a single car I can use at all times of the year. And a RWD GT sports car doesn't cut that bill.

I'm not really sure what to get now, it can't even be a regular celica since I want AWD. STi's are too pricey, 2.5RS is ugly imho, imprezas themselves are kinda gutless, GTi-R's are too small, GTR's are too expensive and cliche these days. I'm running out of options lol.

Wrangler TJ with lift kit it is  :dunno:

Talon? SVX? Older GT4?

Why not just invest in a good set of winters?

Yeah, talons are an option. SVX isnt really practical, and i despise autos. The tranny swap takes too much time and effort for me. Older GT4's are not worth it right now since the newer ones will be out in like 2 years, and thats what i want eventually till i finish universityfor another 5 years.
