Good start! I have an awesome lens for that camera if you're into macro stuff....

On another note, I almost got kicked out of the 'dome tonite because of my camera.....Ugly betty the security guard insisted my camera was professional and could not be used in the building. It was hard to tell with all the spitting from her braces. She actually used the "lens is longer than my hand" rule to justify it (which it wasn't). I came unglued, it was a hitmen game for crying out loud!? My Toshiba P&S has more zoom than the lens I was wearing, but that would be ok....Stupid rules.

Davan what settings and lens did you use to take those hockey pics?? i need to learn how to take sports pics and teach my sister so she can take some during my hockey games.

anyways last night had a small get together, few beers here and there so I took a shoot of one of the finest beverages.

Those were shot with the Canon EF 70-200, at f2.8, iso800. I was getting between 1/250th - 1/400th shutter speeds.

Santa Monica Beach, just south of the Pier

Lesson learned: makes sure you keep your sensor clean. If you enlarge it you can see a funny haze over the top of the closest arch, where the bar and chain is attached.

And I forgot my circ polarizer.

When you shoot snow, especially when the sun is out, you need to over expose to get right contrast and exposure. You light meter will read the incident ligth as being too bright (cause snow isn't grey).

Food for thought.

Yes, they do have a bluish hue to them. I think that they were more representative of the water at that point. When I try change the white balance it changes the water to a shade of brown. I like them better as they are.

Time to get a new camera. Some of those pics are amazing in every sense of the word. Those pics from Zephyr really are something... they sure capture the beauty of moment; if that makes any sense.

My Olympus is God-awful. How much would a good camera cost? (meaning one that can take that cailibre of pictures)

What Olympus do you have?? I had one and it took great photos.... Most cameras can if you know how to use it properly... even 2-3MP point and shoots w/ some form of Manual control can be used effectively to get great images... No need to spend Thousands of dollars...

Playing around with the SB-800 speedlight, what a great accessory it is. a couple more flower pics. I think i'll have to invest into a very nice micro lens, i've found that i really enjoy shooting close up. I need to work more on compsition it seems my pictures come out boring so far, but i hope it will all come together with time.
