I'm currently taking Stat213 and had a quiz with the following question on it. The answer I got and what the TA got are totally different, so I was hoping someone could show me exactly how these are supposed to be done. The TA wrote some stuff on the quiz that doesn't seem to make sense and I can't find her around anywhere to ask her.

One card is selected at random from an ordinary deck of 52 playing cards

A=(event that a 2,3, or 4 is selected)
B=(event that a jack, queen, or king is selected)
C=(event that a heart is selected)

Find the following probabilities:

P(B)
P(B|A)
P(B|C)
P(B|A*)

*=complement

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't taken stats for a while, but I'm just guessing:

12/52
24/52
21/52
42/52

Are those the right answers? I won't explain unless they are right...

I got

12/52
0
12/52
12/40

Formula I used for all was P(A|B) = P(A & B) / P(B)

(in the above formula its not really a "&", its an upside down U, but it means the same as "and")
