brokerage fees and buying rims from states????

has anyone had experience with buying rims from the states??? I see package deals for $1000 US but am wondering about how much shipping and brokerage fees would add??? anyone who has bought rims from the states let me know.

Well I haven't bought rims from the states, but I have bought alot of other stuff and usually all I have had to pay is the GST which is 7%. Sometimes I've had to also pay duty which is then 6% so, if you get dinged for both it would be a whole whoping 13% you'd have to give our great LIBERAL Government.

UPS charged massive brokerage fees as well.

Bought at 150 dollar item from the states paid 60 something in fees. never did that again.

Be careful and avoid UPS at all costs...best shippers are USPS, they don't charge crazy shipping fees.

Look to spend about 100US to ship them over to Canada, and you will be taxed on them too. Best bet is to ask the shipper to declare a low value, so you save...although if they are lost, you will only be able to claim what the seller declared.

Are there brokerage fees on everything , or just heavy items like wheels etc..? i am probably gettin a sunroof shipped( from indiana) next week, unless i can find one here before then :dunno:.it cant weigh more than 20lbs...ive never bought anything that had to be shipped before, so im a little in the dark here. what else do i need to know?

There's brokerage fees on MOST items, there's a list of what's considered duty item on A&A or AAA discount brokerage. Things like auto parts have duty of like 10% but other stuff like misc is like 5%... so if it's an used item, it'd be best if you tell the seller to put in the description something that's not related to auto parts (I believe they have the highest duty) and also adjust the value of the item cause you'll have to pay 7% GST for sure.

If you get it shipped UPS express, you pay NO brokerage fees for whatever you are shipping.

If its UPS ground and the value is below 20 bucks, also no fees at all.

... so if i see a rim/tire package going for $1000 US i can expect to pay:

$1000 rims/tire
$1000 * 10% brokerage = $100
$100 shipping??

I bought an intake for 200USD and paid 90 CND in brokerage fees.

just get them to ship fedex or USPS.

i prefer use USPS. since they've no brodeage charge. they only charge duty(at least i haven't charge since i order stuff from state). or the best way is ask your seller. they might give u idea which shipping company is better. i don't recommend UPS. since i've few really bad experience with them. for price. their asking price pretty decent compare to others. however, the serivce...................good luck

nope, you're charged for importing goods so you will pay duty, its just a matter of how much

Acutally, I think it depends on where they are made... not where you buy them from.... I could be wrong though

Usually 2-3 days, but then it depends on the hold at customs... could be 3-5 days. But Rims gonna be expensive

Find a different shop. Or try local. The other option is to get a friend in Seattle, Spokane, or some place in Montana. Get them shipped there and pick them up. It depends on how much you value your time.

Here is my experience with buying things from US

I got my hockey goalie pads from the US. the store is in NY. The pads i got sold for 399US (550CAD). to ship is around 100CAD, brokerage fee is another 100CAD. Shiped by FEDEX ground!!!

I am going to ask for UPS Express if possible (since they only do UPS...) They said around 50bucks USD to ship basic I think, will find out if he does EXPRESS and if so how much...

All Im saying is be prepared for unexpected prices, the more places the rims have to be sent the more money its going to cost, and if you have 4 rims to ship uhh I rather buy rims in Canada, that way you won't have any hidden fees
