I bought a phone from Telus for my GF. She already has a plan, so I just wanted to know if she will have to pay an activation fee when she goes to switch phones?

And if there is one, how much?

telus is a bitch, they called me the other day to ensure "customer satisfaction" and then tryed to convince me to spend an extra $15 a month for "free" telus to telus calling...I asked the guy dont I already have that? ..."uh, yes, yes you do sir" i started to laugh and then he asked me why i wouldnt want to spend an extra $15 a month on this feature....because i already have it! FUCK haha :drama:

Unlike all other national carriers (Fido, Rogers, Bell) Telus does not have a cancellation cap. If you cancel your plan, you will owe them $20 X # months remaining on contract.

On a family plan, that could be $700! :bullshit:

^^ Yup... With the activation fee though, you can usually call and get it taken off the bill if you bitch enough.

Telus charges $25 on your bill for any ESN changes automatically now. The dealer rep can credit it if they feel like it. Most dealerships will charge a fee in store as well.

I.e. $25 on the bill from Telus and $15 in store.

Visions won't charge you an in-store fee. If you do other shopping you can sometimes have them waive that $25 equipment exchange fee too.

$25 if you call a rep, $10 if you swap it yourself at mytelusmobility.com

I know at my dealership we're required to charge the $25 Telus fee on the customer's bill and we charge $15 in store for any ESN changes or renewals.

For new activations it's $35 on the bill and $15 in store and believe it or not we're actually on the lower end of the spectrum in terms of service fee charges in store compared to other dealerships. I believe PDL charges a total of $60 for ESN/renewals, and $70 for new activations.
