So got food poisoning from these guys, so did my gilfriend and another couple that we were with.

Sick in bed for 2 days.

Ate there on Friday 11/03/06 at 6:00pm, the sushi that we ate was somewhat dry and I'm sure was not fresh.

:guns: :guns: :guns: :barf: :barf: :barf:

Sorry about your mishap, must have went when a bad chef was working.

But regardless, i'll still go there for happy hour. Its good sushi for the price.

I worked there before and the restaurant is so dirty. The sashimi pre-cut and they are not fresh (sometime bones inside of Sashimi). I know it is cheap after 9pm but the food is so bad.

I'm sorry to hear your experience
but i've said it so many times! just like the above post
i think you should report them to health inspection

i'm surprised bubblemania would get closed down because they spend $$ to buy professional products to clean themselves, yet this dirty filthy place of sakana stays open food poisoning ppl

if everyone had food poisoning they'd b shut down right away. the fact that 'some' did get the poisoning is a good warning sign. i've never heard ppl complaining about food poisoning so much about other places

A bunch of us went to Sakana not long ago, and all I can say is it wasn't great. Just didn't taste like other sushi I'd had, and overall not impressed...Maybe its cause we were white. Who knows, I'll just keep going to sushi BBQ inn, never had a problem, and it tastes good....

How do we go about reporting them to health inspection? I don't think its a difficult thing for a restaurant to be hygienic, I mean it doesnt have to be completely spotless but I shouldnt be puking after eating there.

I don't want to make a generalization here but its difficult not to, but doesnt it seem like oriental restaurants seem to have the most health infractions? I'm referenceing one of the past threads that showed 40-50 restaurants being closed for health related reasons.

what did you all eat that night?

Did you go to the doctors the following day?

I ate the love boat deluxe, and got a medium sushi combo...

I didn't go to the doctors, probably should have, just duked it out and drank lots of fluids to flush everything else out. I didn't find out my friends were affected until Sunday.

well growing up in an Asian country I'm rather used to sub-standard hygenine in public restaurants. that being said, when i do feel queezy i'm pretty sure many at the same table will share the same experience.

In order to file a credible report, I think you need to go to the hospital or at least have the exact stool sample for investigation.

It seems to me there's ways around the inspection, or that the inspection is done by ppl that the owners know. Being in so many asian restaurant's kitchen in calgary, i'm surprised any passed. The floor is oily, smell is rotten, and you don't want to be there when they're marinating that favorite dish of pork or chicken. It's done in a bucket and hands that stink of cigarette (while the cigarette is in his mouth). So either they know of the inspection dates, know the person doing the inspection, or they change scenes and clothes like superman.

What's to say that you both didnt end up with the same flu?

There is a nasty one that has been through our office.

Generally with food poisoning it will hit you within 3 hours and you will be in serious abdominal pain.

I thought about it, but I dont think I can consider it a coincidence that another couple had the exact same symptoms from the same restaurant.

I've heard sometimes these bugs can take anywhere from 4-48 hours to take affect.

Has OP gone back here?

Highly recommended by resident bully max_boost still, and many other Beyond Asians.

Does Sakana happy hours still bring all the Asians to the yard? $1.20-$1.40 per sushi/sashimi, huge discount on love boats, $10.95 udon bowls, $9.95 bento boxes.

I do find their plate setting concept a little dirty; they just keep stacks of plates on the side of table, instead of new placement at each turnover. Their free candy buffet is cool, for before or after meals.

A good dirty buffer place if you're coming back from dirty Asia places and can't dive into clean raw salad right away.
