out fo the 15 voting members, 10 voted in favour, and 4 abstained (abstaining is like voting yes without pissing the US off)... so reallay it was a vote of 14:1....

And because the US can veto, there goes "democracy" lol Funny the hypocrisy in that :poosie:

Your right Toma the US should leave the UN and take all the finacing the US gives to the UN with them too.
Then the UN will collapse and we can be done with it.

the UN is useless anyway, it was good when there was the whole balance of power thing going on (im sure u remember that from the 80's) but now honestly, its America does what America wants

It does, and the UN needs a restructuring. The 5 member permanent council is anti democratic, as is the one country (of that council) veto).

The UN would be a great tool if this was fixed, but the US would never agree to that.... rock and a hard place.

Personally I think the UN lost any authority they had when Bush proceeded with the Iraq invasion without UN approval and support, with no repercussion thus far.

no, the UN lost any respect and authority when it fucked around with Iraq for 10 years after GW1.

You don't say, 'do this or else', then don't have the balls to follow through with the or else part.

Saddam repeatly violated UN sactions and all the UN did was write sturn letters. As it turns out it was rendered impotent because of the oil for food scandel.

I personally think the US made a mistake going into Iraq when it did. It should have happenned within a year of the ceasefire of GW1 when it was obvious that Saddam was going to play games.

Or, as you may know, Israel has more UN resolutions against it then any other coutnry, and the UN is powerless to do anything....

I haven't time for google this morning, but as I reacall.... the US has more vetos in the last 20 years then all other countries combined....

And besides.... the US has other ways of getting their vote... political and economic pressure are their calling card. They have used that so many times in the last 10 years, its absurd. That is how they got drunk corrupt Yeltsin to go along with attacking Yugoslavia (or at least abstaining instead of vetoing).... they tied their abstention to a huge loan that Russia "needed" at the time.

Iran, Korea, Russia, China make no pretenses or excuses. What they say, and what they do is inline. Actually, with mid east coutnrioes, they talk tough way more then they act.... quite opposite the lying, backstabbing, arrogant American's.

The US ruthlessly rams the word "democracy" around, and uses it to murder, slaughter, and break up nations, but acts like the big bad dictator it really is in trying to run the world.

China has a non-interference policy. It means that it doesn't matter who rule the country and how brutal the leader is, as long as it sells what China wants, no questions asked.

That's why all the China is support all energy rich Africans.

Anyway, US will be on the decline soon. They way they keep printing money to support their wars. It's a matter of time before everyone in US is in too much debt.

Tell you what. As much as all the shit US caused. They are useful when the world is in trouble. Nobody else has the technology, resources, and policy to help other countries in need as fast as the US military can respond.

Oh I dunno about that.... during the Indian tsunamis and earthquakes, some shithole third world country sent more aid, more medics, more supplies, and faster then the US... they continually do it where ever they are needed... even offered to help with hurricane Katrina and New Orleans... of course GWB was too proud to accept help from a third world country... it was easier to let people die or decend into chaos.....

The country was Venezuala if you didn't already know.

The only thing the US is good for is miltary aid...but they dont get involved to help. They get involved to get something OUT of the situation.
