1995 jetta question

i have a 95 jetta gl 4dr which is run by gas not deisel
it has a 2 litre motor in it and the other day the fuel pump went on it, and when i found out the price it was about 400$ for one but one of my friends told me to add a universal inline fuel pump, is this possible? please someoen let me know that would be great

the problem with adding one is that it still has to pull the fuel through the dead one. If you're lucky, it'll be fine. If you aren't lucky, ...
