Honda Element-D drift car,
a custom twin-turbo 3.2-liter Honda V6 mounted longitudinally and driving the rear wheels only.

The Element-D project was created by a team of enthusiasts at Honda Associates R&D Americas, Inc, based in Ohio. The car was built solely for the racing sport of drifting and came about from guys simply raiding the company parts bin. Final output is a massive 500hp, which will enable the Honda Associates to enter a team to compete in the 2007 Formula Drift Series.

Drifting just took a turn towards being overrated now.

Yeah, I wouldnt want to drift that its center of gravity is way to high i think tipping that thing wouldnt take much....

Nah, I think it would be ok, did you see the rollcage? I would think the suspension is done up quite a bit. looks pretty stable, maybe not though.

I dont know why they did that to an element... why not do it to the new RL  or something like that. Kinda cool though.

I like the idea of a drifting honda that isn't an s2k or nsx, although those would be much better platforms

preludes whould have been rwd. but i still love them:love:

Preludes are too heavy... it'd be like an MKIV Supra drifting, possible, but not the best choice.

I good platform (besides the two seaters) could be a beat, if you actually fit anything other than the .6L engine in there... or maybe a EG/Ek civic coupe, if you felt like blowing the money on a RWD conversion. Possibly a DA/DC2 w/ RWD conversion.

trust me dude, if a ka24e can get a 240sx side ways an h22a for sure can.

look at the soarer for example, thats heavy but still looked upon in the drift society as a great drifter car

Heavy yes, but i'm betting the weight ratio (fr/back) is a lot better, not to mention much more powerful. How much pwoer would be lost from the h22 if it had to drive the rear wheels? Maybe if it was turbo'ed w/ an lsd

Its all about PR. Honda missed the mark on the element. It was supposed to be for the youth market. Have you seen one that isnt being driven by an older couple in their 40's trying to be young? So they are pobably hopping that entering it in drift will make it cool.

As for drifting a beat, the little car is Mid engine. Not the best for drifting.

Anybody else notice some funky plumbing on the turbos?

1996 prelude srv- 2932 lbs with 190hp and 158 ft/lbs
1997 prelude- 2954 lbs with 195 hp and 156 ft/lbs
1992 240sx- 2730lbs with 155 hp and 160 ft/lbs
1997 240sx- 2800lbs with 155 hp and 160 ft/lbs

so if you do the math
1996 srv- 15.43 lbs per 1hp and 18.56 lbs per 1 ft/lb
1997 lude- 15.15 lbs per 1 hp and 18.94 lbs per 1 ft/lb
1992 240sx- 17.61 lbs per 1 hp and 17.88 lbs per 1 ft/lb
1997 240sx- 18.06 lbs per 1hp and 17.5 lbs per 1 ft/lb

or take an accord that gutted with a h22 like mine
1991 accord dx- 2732(full interior) 2455 with a semi-gutting
works out to 13.66 lbs per 1 hp and 17.29 lbs per 1 ft/lb (full interior)
or 12.28 lbs per 1 hp and 15.54 lbs per 1 ft/lb (semi gutted)

i was thinking of spinning the h22 90 degrees and making a rwd drift accord but i cant afford the downtime until i get a beater.

oh well. dont ask why i did this. just bored at work. lol
