Should be soon I would assume.

Anyone know of any outdoor rinks within walking distance of SAIT?

Yea it's not cold enough.

I've driven around, and I haven't seen any that have been flooded yet.

I think December at least.. or when it's consistently below -0ºC, with lows at -20ºC

As soon as there is a consistent cold weather pattern. Best rink is in Oakridge, the zamboni from the community arena comes out and floods the outdoor rink (the od rink is right behind the arena). :bigpimp:

+1 to that!
they've also fixed the holes in the boards over the summer so it'll be one of the best this winter for sure

Douglas Dale has a sweet one too.... and the one off Anderson and Elbow drive is pimp (they have two rinks w/boards and changerooms.)

Most usually flood the first cold snap in december. It's just to warm in november normally.

-the rink by mackenzie lake is pretty sweet too. It has a change room and players box. Plus they used to use the zamboni on it also, let's hope they do this season.

glendale and signal hill are both flooded, but the ice is rather 'shaly' since it was flooded in such a cold weather... still works, but it's not great

wheres the rink in signall hill??...any near cougar ridge or west springs???

In the SW: Oakridge rink is A+ complete with the Zamboni flooding it. Only drawback is lots of little kids and protective parents that will cause you shit if you get your game on.

SE: Ramsay rink is covered with a roof and the ice is so-so. You even have your own cheering section with crackheads and hookers.

Just a note about Olympic Plaza, if you plan on going down late at night to play a game, the cops will make it their priority to break it up and cause trouble.

I haven't had a chance to check the rinks in my area lately. Maybe someone else in the MacKenzie area knows already?

The signal hill rink is sort of between signal hill and richmond hill... where they're building the new school.

if youre looking for a rink closer to cougar ridge, there's one in patterson just north of the 7-11

i drove around sunday looking at rinks

haysboro was ready but bumpy as hell...i'm not going to throw out my knee on that ice!

henry wisewood rink was ready to go, thin ice but def skatable

signal hill was being flooded when i arrived, thin ice but they prefer no one skates on it when it is bumpy etc until the zamboni comes on a couple times in between flood's

the one by mckay pontiac buick i think it is, 78th ave off of mac trail, there was no ice there at all

wait another week or two and they will all be running good, unless we get a stupid huge melt

ciao

We've been playing in Douglas Dale the last couple weeks

However once Canyon Meadows (Anderson and Elbow) get their 2 rinks up and running we'll be there. They have full boards and chain link fence at the ends so you can actually rifle the pucks without cashing them down when you miss haha.

How exactly do you get to the Douglas Dale and Canyon Meadows rinks?? Really interested in seeing the Canyon Meadows as it has 2 rinks and change room.
Same with Harvest Hills and Hidden Valley. Just played at Signal Hill. Nice place with change room. Ice was pretty decent but got shut down at 9:30 which sucks. My buddies usually play here and Ramsy. They say the ice is better at Ramsy as it is roofed so not much snow.
What rinks stays lighted up the latest?

kinda late but the best way to get there is straight down deerfoot...beddington trail exit, all the way past country hills blvd, and its on your left hand side...huge hill, baseball diamond on the bottom rink at the top.

The sandstone rink is open now, i went there last week ice was useless but good to see it finally open.

Well me and a few buddies are gonna head to Inglewood. Haven't been there before and don't know exactly where it is so can't really give directions. Suppose to be decent ice. If not probably try Ramsy since its nearby. We should have a goalie with us.
