Hey guys,

My insurance company after already going through 1 year of insurance, wants me to get an inspection for my '86 300zx.

Now on this sheet it says, "has vehicle been altered for speed or performance?"

I have gotten some exhaust work done, and my cat removed. Will they mark this as "yes" and thus, my insurance company will probably up my dues?

I hope this is not the case. Anyone on this site a licensed mechanic who can give my car a quick look and a signature. The car is in great shape, but I dont want to deal with a shady garage, who tries to get me to spend $$$ to get them to pass it.

*Note--- My car is Alberta registered, and not OOP.

PM me and we can work somthing out!

Cheers,

Dylan S

i doubt you'll pass inspection without a cat

yeah you do not need a cat and most mechanics are smart enough to know that your exuast is not doing really anything to make your car faster.

Give this guy a call. As long as your car is not falling apart and an immediate deathtrap, you will get good marks.

Be warned though if there are serious issues with the car you will need to address them.

714.7499 his name is Gord, and each inspection is $30. If something is badlywrong he will tell you and you can fix it, bring your car back to him and get the form checked back off.

Cheers!

No, Gord does not have his OOP certification, YET. In the next few months I reckon that he will.

If your car is 12 years old or older, it requires a basic safety inspection to be insured by your insurance company, ordered by the government that mandates all important equipment and devices are properly functioning so that you are not unaware of potential dangers that risk other motorists.

Odd; my dad has kept (and sold) his 1974 VW Microbus until 2004 - he never once had it inspected or did anything special to get insurance coverage on it

That's odd, because every insurance company I know of requires this inspection to be done?
